A very tactical game

This game was bonkers! I thought instead of 17. Nd5+ maybe 17. Bg4 with a winning advantage. I thought I found myself lucky to salvage a draw because of the stupid blunders i made but then again my opponent was low on time (roughly 5 mins while i had 30 mins). I was just wondering if either of us had missed any tactics. Please feel free to criticise the game too!

g3 is not that bad infact after:

10.g3 Qxh2 11.Be3 white has a huge advantage.

In a practical game I may have gone for 10. Qg3 even though it is inferior. This is because it takes alot of the tactical venom out of the position and is still completely winning for white. Infact blacks best move in the resulting position is to simply trade queens which cannot be recommended.

How is this game drawn? White stands clearly better with the exposed black king, engine analysis finds a mate in 10, and even without the engine you must be able to win this position. So how was this a draw?

My opponent was down on time and to try and find a winning combination would take quite alot of time so he agreed on a draw. He had about 5 minutes.

I think 5 mins is good enough.

starting with Nxc7 check..pick the rook up and then take the pawn on f7 with queen if black recaptures so you have a check.

Try to get the dark square bishop into the game with a check capture the queen on a1 and go on to win easily.

My opponent too thought Qg3 was better after anaylzing together.

If you try and pick up the rook on a8. I think ill be able to keep checking whites king for a long time.

Sorry but why wounldn't white play 21.Ke2

or in your alternate version why not

23.Ba3+ winning the queen?

29.Why would white play Bf4 give away the rook and then play e6 giving check.

white should play e6 first.

you are showing white loose with not even close to proper play here.

Ke2 would not make any difference and i did not spot Ba3. Bf4 was also stupid. But do you really expect White to calculate all of those lines in a real match under pressure without making any errors in 5 minutes? Really? Just trying to find a suitable line for White took me 15 mins and I still made a couple errors as you pointed out.  Plus I could survive long enough to sloowly run down my opponents time.

F0T0T0

I did that in 15 seconds so why not?( not exactly but not much longer than it did for me to go through the moves.)

If you think for 15 minutes and hang a queen you're opponent really has a chance.

If white plays Ke2 black can't play Qf2.

White's king can safely go to g5 and you will run out of checks and loos the game pretty soon.

From Frankiebones diagram

26 Qd5+ Kxe7 27.Qxf7+ (a) 27...Kd6 28. Qd5+ Ke7 29. Bg5+ Kf8 30. Qf7# (b) 27...Kd8 28. Bg5+ Re7 (28...Kc8 29. Qxe8#) 29. Qxe7+ Kc8 30. Qd8#.

Why not play 10. Qg3 and laugh your opponent down?
