Titled Tuesday Speed Chess Championship Qualifier Takes Place Today

All titled players are invited to battle with some of the world's best on Tuesday, August 6 at 1 p.m. PDT for a spot in the 2019 Speed Chess Championship. In addition to the prize money normally on offer for Chess.com's Titled Tuesday, the winner of the event will be seeded into the main bracket of the Speed Chess Championship where they will face the likes of Hikaru Nakamura, Maxime Vachier-Lagrave, Ding Liren and more of the top players in chess. The 10-round Swiss Titled Tuesday Speed Chess Championship qualifier will feature a time control of 3+2 and will be broadcast live on www.Twitch.tv/Chess and www.Chess.com/TV with commentators IM Danny Rensch and GM Jon-Ludvig Hammer. In the event that there is a tie for first, the tie will be broken by Sonneborn-Berger score with rating being the second tie-break.

Prizes

Titled Player Tuesdays are Chess.com's monthly events only for those with a USCF or FIDE title. They take place on the last Tuesday of every month [Update: Starting March, 2015 the tournament moves to the FIRST Tuesday of each month.] and the total prize fund is $2,000. As of October 2015, the prize money is split up into two distinct events. Players are eligible to play in both on the same day if they wish. The five prizes for each event are $500-$250-$125-$75-$50, making the total purse $1000 for each of the two events.




2014

Titled Player Tuesday 1

On October 28, 2014, GM Baadur Jobava won clear first with 8.0/9 to win $500. Second place was IM Daniel Baratosi with 7.5/9. Shared third was IM Andrey Gorovetz, GM Georg Meier, GM Arturs Neiksans, and GM Robert Hess, all with 6.5/9.

Titled Player Tuesday 2

On November 25, 2014, GM Georg Meier won clear first with 8.5/9 to win $500. Second place was shared by GM Maxim Dlugy and GM Leinier Dominguez with 7.0/9. Tied for fourth were GM JackSnipe, GM Mikhailo Oleksienko, IM Yaacov Norowitz, and IM Zhanibek Amanov, all with 6.5/9.

Titled Player Tuesday 3

On December 30, 2014, GM Daniel Naroditsky won clear first with 8.0/9 to win $500. Second place was GM Dmitry Andreikin with 7.5/9. Tied for third were GM Valeriy Aveskulov, GM Andrey Vovk and NM Atulya Vaidya, all with 7.0/9.

2015

Titled Player Tuesday 4

On January 27, 2015, GM Baadur Jobava won clear first with 4.0/4 to win $500. The event was abbreviated due to technical problems. Tied for second were six players including GM Dmitry Andreikin, GM Eltaj Safarli, GM Gevorg Harutjunyan, GM Anthony Wirig, GM Andrij Vovk, and FM Minh Le, all with 3.5/4.

Titled Player Tuesday 5

On January 27, 2015, GM Baadur Jobava won clear first with 7.0/7 to win $500. The event was the second in the same night to make up for the shortened first event. Second place was IM Lucas Liascovich with 6.0/7. Third was GM Eltaj Safarli and IM Kacper Drozdowski, both with 5.5/7. Five players shared fifth with 5.0/7.

Titled Player Tuesday 6

On February 24, 2015, GM Baadur Jobava, GM Eltaj Safarli and GM Jose Carlos Ibarra Jerez shared first with 7.5/9 in this "special edition" tournament with an increased prize fund of $2,500. They all won $583.33.

On March 3, 2015, GM Georg Meier, GM Eltaj Safarli and IM Lucas Liascovich shared first with 7.5/9. They all won $291.67. GM Alex Lenderman finished fourth with 7.0/9.

Titled Player Tuesday 8

On April 7, 2015, GM Georg Meier won clear first with 7.5/9 to win $500. Tied for second with 7.0/9 and all winning $150 were GM Maxime Vachier-Lagrave, FM Marko Sokac and GM Romain Edouard. Fifth was IM Jeffery Xiong with 6.5/9 for $50.

Titled Player Tuesday 9

On May 5, 2015, GM Hikaru Nakamura and IM Kacper Drozdowski shared first with 7.5/9 to both win $375. Tied for third were GM Jose Carlos Ibarra Jerez, IM Lucas Liascovich, IM Dejan Stojanovich and IM Matvei Shcherbin, who all won $62.50.

Titled Player Tuesday 10

On June 2, 2015, GM Hikaru Nakamura, GM Georg Meier, and GM David Larino Nieto shared first with 8.0/9. They all won $450. GM Tal Baron, GM Daniel Fridman and GM Jose Carlos Ibarra Jerez finished fourth with 7.5/9 for $58.33 each.

On July 7, 2015, GM Hikaru Nakamura won clear first wth 8.0/9 to win $750. GM Georg Meier and WGM Aleksandra Dimitrijevic shared second place and both won $300. Fourth place was shared by FM Marko Sokac, GM Sergey Volkov, GM Max Dlugy, GM Nijat Abasov, GM Robert Hess and FM Nodirbek Abdusattorov.

Titled Player Tuesday 12

On August 4, 2015, GM Tal Baron won clear first with 8.0/9 to win $750. GM Conrad Holt finished second and won $400. GMs Hikaru Nakamura, Dmitry Andreikin, Alexander Indjic and Romain Edouard tied for third to win $93.75.

Titled Player Tuesday 13

On September 2, 2015 GM Daniel Naroditsky finished clear first with 7.5/9 to win $750. IM Borya Ider, GM Dmitry Andreikin, GM Evgeny Shaposhnikov, GM Ante Saric, IM Saveliy Golubov and FM Mark Tran shared second place and all won $129.17.

Titled Player Tuesday 14 & 15

On October 6, 2015, in the early edition (TT 14) GM Tal Baron won clear first with 8.5/9 in edition 14 to win $500. Second place was GM David Larino Nieto and third was shared by GM Maxime Vachier-Lagrave, GM Dmitry Andreikin and NM Conrado Diaz. 

In the evening edition (TT 15), GM Fransisco Vallejo Pons won clear first with 7.5/9 to win $500. Second was shared by Jon Ludvig Hammer and IM Facundo Quiroga. Fourth was shared by GM Maxime Vachier-Lagrave, GM Tal Baron, GM Max Dlugy, GM Juan Carlos Ibarra Jerez and IM Minh Le.

Titled Player Tuesday 16 & 17

On November 3, 2015, in the early edition (TT 16) GMs Zviad Izoria, Dmitry Andreikin, Georg Meier, Alex Lenderman, and FM Renato Lujan shared first with 7.0/9 to win $200 each (those five earned all five prizes).

In the evening edition (TT 17) IM Borya Ider and FM Artem Sadovksy shared first with 7.5/9 to both win $375. Third place was shared by GMs Andrey Deviatkin, Grigor Grigorov, and Petar Arnaudov.

Titled Player Tuesday 18 & 19

On December 1, 2015, in the early edition (TT 18) GM Maxime Vachier-Lagrave won clear first with 8.5/9 to win $500. Second place was shared by GM Anton Demchenko and IM Nikita Meshkov. Fourth was shared by GM Hikaru Nakamura, GM Georg Meier, IM Swayams Mishra, and IM Ruifeng Li.

In the evening edition (TT 19), GM Hikaru Nakamura and GM Maxim Dlugy shared first with 8.0/9 to both win $375. Third place was shared by FM Renato Lujan, GM Petar Arnaudov and FM Igor Vakhlamov.

2016

Titled Player Tuesday 20 & 21

On January 5, 2016, in the early edition (TT 20) GM Dmitry Andreikin won clear first with 8.0/9 to win $500. Second place was shared by GM Hikaru Nakamura and GM Alex Lenderman ($187.50 each). Fourth place was shared by GM Nijat Abasov, GM Dmitry Frolyanov, and IM Mishra Swayams ($41.67 each).

In the evening edition (TT 21) GM Nijat Abasov won clear first with 7.5/9 to win $500. Second place was shared by GM Dmitry Andreikin, GM Hikaru Nakamura, GM Maxime Vachier-Lagrave, and NM Ravil Gabitov ($125 each).

Titled Player Tuesday 22 & 23

On February 2nd, 2016, in the early edition (TT 22) GM Georg Meier won clear first with 8.0/9 to win $500. GM Varuzhan Akobian won clear second place and $250. GMs Maxim Matlakov and Valeriy Aveskulov split 3rd to share $100. In a four-way tie for fifth, GMs Bartosz Socko, Mateusz Bartel, Sergei Movsesian, and FM Torre42, each collected $12.50.

In the evening edition (TT 23) GM Yuri Solodovnichenko won clear first with 7.5/9 to win $500. GMs Julio Sadorra, Nicholas Huschenbeth, and IM Stephen Zierk shared second and each collected $150. Fifth place was split four ways between GMs Hikaru Nakamura, Bassem Amin, Fidel Corrales, and Conrad Holt ($12.50 each).

Titled Player Tuesday 24 & 25

On March 1st, 2016, in the early edition (TT 24) GM Dmitry Andreikin won clear first with 7.5/9 to win $500. GM Vidit Gjurathi, IM Minh Tranh, and IM Maciej Keklowski split 2nd to each claim $150. In a four-way tie for fifth, GMs Maxim Dlugy, Valeriy Aveskulov, Georg Meier, and FM Renato Lujan, each collected $12.50.

In the evening edition (TT 25) GM Hikaru Nakamura won clear first with 8.0/9 to win $500. GM Conrad Holt finished in clear 2nd and claimed $250. GMs Dmitriy Andreikin and Jose Ibarra Jerez each collected $100 for 3rd. GM Daniel Naroditsky won $12 for sole 5th place.

Titled Player Tuesday 26 & 27

On March 3rd, 2016, Chess.com hosted a special Titled Tuesday with a doubled prize fund. In the early edition (TT 26) GM Baadur Jobava won clear first with 8.0/9 to win $800. Sophiste2 notched clear second and $400. All of the players (IM Nazi Paikidze, IM Borya Ider, GM Gevorg Harutjunyan, GM Alex Shimanov, GM Maxime Vachier-Lagrave, IM Yaacov Norowitz, WGM Adriana Nikolova, GM Jorge Bobadillo, and FM Esteban Quiceno) on seven points tied for third through fifth and collected $55.55. Paikidze and Nikolova shared the Top Female prize; each collected an additional $50.

In the evening edition (TT 27) GMs Jose Ibarra, and Gevorg Harutjnuyan shared first with 7.5/9 to each win $600. IM Minh Tran and GM Baadur Jobava each received $200 for shared third. The eight-way tie for fifth (GM Eltaj Safarli, GM Laurent Fressinet, GM Hikaru Nakamura, GM Alex Lenderman, IM Nazi Paikidze, GM Evgeny Shaposhnikov, attack2mateu, and NM Antonio Arencibia) assured each player of a cool $12.50. Paikidze collected the full $100 for the Top Female prize.

Titled Player Tuesday 28 & 29

On June 7th, 2016, two victors emerged in the early edition as GM Evgeny Shaposhnikov and IM Minh Trần shared first and each collected $375. Six players tied for third and collected $41.67. These were GMs Dmitri Andreikin, Jaan Ehlvest, and Luka Paichadze and IMs Bachana Morchiashvili, Александр Москаленко, and Nikita Meskovs.

The late event saw a five way tie for first place. GMs Jose Ibarra Jerez, Conrad Holt, and Alan Pichot and IMs Maksim Chigaev and Minh Trần tied and all received $200.

Titled Player Tuesday 30 & 31

On July 5th, 2016, Hikaru Nakamura and Eltaj Safarli shared first and collected $375. Seven players tied for third, winning an even $35. These were GMs Evgeny Shaposhnikov, Maxime Vachier-Lagrave, Alan Pichot, Baskiran Adhiban, Artur Gabrielian, Darius Swiercz and IM Christophe Sochacki.

Eltaj Safarli also won the late event and received $500 for sole first place. GMs Evgeny Shaposhnikov, Hikaru Nakamura, and Sanan Sjugirov each won $150 for shared second. $12.50 went to GMs Jose Ibarra Jerez, Daniel Naroditsky, IM Minh Le, and FM Santiago Zapata Charles.

Titled Player Tuesday 32 & 33

On August 2nd, 2016,  IMs Minh Tran and Christophe Sochaki each won $375 for first place in the early event. IM Alexander Moskalenko claimed the sole third place prize of $125. GMs Naroditsky and Deviatkin and IM Bersamina each won $42 for shared fourth place.

In the late event, GM Jose Ibarra Jerez won $500 for sole first place. GMs Tigran Petrosyan, Rogelio Barcenilla, Laurent Fressinet, and Conrad Holt each earned $125 for shared second.

Titled Player Tuesday 34 & 35

On September 6th, 2016, in the early event, IM Alexander Moskalenko was the winner, earning $500. FM Ilya Duzhakov, IM Minh Le, and GM Evgeny Shaposhnikov each won $150. That meant that the $50 fifth-place prize was divided many times, resulting in $6 winnings for GMs Dmitry Andreikin, Sergey Movsesian, FM Nihal Sarin, GM Alexander Moiseenko, IM Maceij Klekowski, FM David Gorodetzky, FM Paolo Ladron de Guevara, IM Saveliy Golubov, and GM Adrian Demuth.

The late event was a bit simpler. GMs Evgeny Shaposhnikov and Evgeny Levin each won $375. GMs Conrad Holt, Dmitry Andreikin, IM Minh Le, and GM Dusan Popovic all collected $62.50.

Titled Player Tuesday 36 & 37

GM Olexandr Bortnyk collected $750 for both first place and the Fischer prize ($250) for a perfect score. GM Alan Pichot won $250 for clear second, and GMs Maxime Vachier-Lagrave, Jose Ibarra Jerez, and Darius Swiercz each won $84 for shared third.

GM Darius Swiercz earned $500 for clear first. GM Alan Pichot won $250 for second place. GMs Conrad Holt and Maxim Matlakov each received $100 for shared third. Finally, GMs Konstantin Tarlev, Jose Ibarra Jerez, and Yannick Gozzoli shared a diluted fifth place and each earned $17.

Titled Player Tuesday 37 & 38

Early winners were Dmitry Andreikin, who earned $500 for clear first, GMs Frederico Perez Ponza and Zaven Andriasyan who both got $187.50 for second, and GMs Adhiban Baskaran, Maxim Matlakov, and IM Swayams Mishra who each claimed $42 for a cut of fourth.
In the late event, GMs Zaven Andriasyan, David Howell, Jahongir Vhakidov, Alan Pichot, Daniel Naroditsky, and IM Minh Le all shared 1st and each got $167.

Titled Player Tuesday 39 & 40

In the early event, Maxim Dlugy collected a clean $500 for his first place in the early event. Evgeny Levin and Zviad Izoria each earned $188 for shared second place, while Sergei Movsesian, Alan Pichot, and NM Harbuzi Labinot won $42 for a part of fourth.

In the late event, Hikaru Nakamura, Laurent Fressinet, Alex Shimanov, Shanmuka Meruga, Daniel Naroditsky, and Vidit Gujrathi all won $167.

2017

Titled Player Tuesday 41 & 42

For clear first place in the early event, GM Max Dlugy earned $500 while IM Alexander Moskalenko and GMs Evgeny Shaposhnikov and Eduardo Iturrizaga each got $117. GMs Anton Demchenko, Bassem Amin, and Mustafa Yılmaz shared fifth place and $17.

In the late event, three winners claimed most of the money with $292 each going to GMs Elshan Moradiabadi, Alexander Moskalenko, and Yaroslav Zherebukh. The remaining prize money went to GMs Federico Perez Ponsa and Eduardo Iturrizaga, IM Kacper Drozdowski, and FM Marek Karas who all earned $31.25 for shared fourth place.

Titled Player Tuesday 43

GMs Magnus Carlsen, Maxime Vachier-Lagraeve, Eltaj Safarli, Jose Ibarra Jerez, IM Alexander Moskalenko, and FM Pedro Martinez shared first place in a six-way tie. Each won $233.33 in prize money. The prize for best stream went to GM Eric Hansen of the ChessBrahs.

Titled Player Tuesday 44

GM Hikaru Nakamura finished in clear first place with 10.5/11, and won the $500 first prize. GM Gadir Guseinov came second with 9.5/11 (winning $400), and GM Maksim Chigaev won the third prize of $250 with 9/11. GM Federico Perez Ponsa, GM Anton Demchenko, IM Yaacov Norowitz and GM Melikset Khachiyan tied for fourth place and all won $62,5.

Titled Player Tuesday 45

While Grigoriants won the $500 first-place prize and qualified for the Speed Chess Championship, GMs Vladimir Fedoseev and Dmitry Andreikin each got $325 for shared second place. Splitting the fourth and fifth place prizes were GMs Eduardo Iturrizaga, Alan Pichot, Darius Swiercz, Akshat Chandra, Alexander Lenderman, and FM David Gorodetzky, all collecting $25.

Titled Player Tuesday 46

GM Georg Meier and IM Tom Kantans each received $450 for first place, with Meier qualifying for the Speed Chess Championship. GMs Hikaru Nakamura, Maxim Chigaev, and Sergey Grigoriants received $167 for shared third-fifth place.

Titled Player Tuesday 47

Jeffery Xiong was the winner of Titled Tuesday on April 18th and qualified for the Speed Chess Championship. The young American player finished ahead of José Carlos Ibarra Jerez, Vladimir Seliverstov, Leinier Dominguez Perez, Dariusz Swiercz and Joachim B Nilsen.

Titled Player Tuesday 48

The April 25th Titled Tuesday tournament was won by Gadir Guseinov, who qualified for the Speed Chess Championship. Maxime Vachier-Lagrave, Hikaru Nakamura, Akshat Chandra, and Sergei Azarov shared second place.

Magnus Carlsen won the May Titled Tuesday with a huge score of 9.5/10. The second-place finishers, GM Hikaru Nakamura and IM Bilel Bellahcene, were a full 1.5 points back on 8/10.

Titled Player Tuesday 50

Hikaru Nakamura won $500 for clear 1st while GMs Yury Solodovnichenko and Yuniesky Quesada each received $325. The fourth and fifth place prizes went to IM Vladimir Seliverstov and GMs Jose Ibarra Jerez and Sergey Grigoriants. Nakamura and Kosteniuk (top female) won air fare and entry to the Chess.com Isle of Man International.

Titled Player Tuesday 51

GMs Dmitry Andreikin and Akshat Chandra and IMs Vladimir Seliverstov and Minh Le each won $325 in the July Titled Tuesday while a large split for 5th place collected GMs Sergey Azarov, Grigoriy Oparin, Mathias Bluebaum, and IM Renato Lujan $20 each.

Titled Player Tuesday 52

The clear winner Dmitry Andreikin won $500 for clear first place in the August Titled Tuesday. GM Sergey Grigoriants, IMs Marcin Krzyżanowski, and Renato Lujan each received $266.67 for a share of second while three players, GMs Leinier Dominguez, Conrad Holt, and IM Armin Juhasz, all split the $100 fifth place prize, earning $33.33 each.

Titled Player Tuesday 53

GMs Jose Ibarra Jerez and Grigoriy Oparin each received $450 for their shared first place in the September Titled Tuesday, while three players who shared third, GMs Sergey Grigoriants, Grigor Grigorov, and IM Jaime Santos Latasa, each earned $133.33.

Titled Player Tuesday 54

GMs Rauf Mamedov, Jeffery Xiong, and Grigor Grigorov each receive $383.33 for their cuts of first place in the October Titled Tuesday. GMs Sam Sevian, Jorden van Foreest, Yaroslav Zherebukh, and Alexander Moskalenko earned 62.50 for their four-way split of fourth and fifth places.

Magnus Carlsen earned $500 for his clear first place in the November Titled Tuesday, but it wasn't a bad payday for our second-place finishers as GMs Federico Perez Ponsa, Yuri Solodovnichenko, Salem Saleh, and IM Minh Le each earned $225 for shared second place.

IM Alexander Moskalenko claimed the $500 first prize entirely for himself in the December Titled Tuesday. In an eight-way tie for second, GMs Axel Bachman, Georg Meier, Yury Solodovnichenko, IMs Arseny Kukhmazov, Robby Kevlishvili, FM David Gorodetzky, and NMs Aaron Jacobson and Kevin Bordi all received $112.50

Titled Player Tuesday 57

For shared first place, GMs Francesco Rambaldi and Varuzhan Akobian each received $450 in our second December Titled Tuesday. GMs Jose Ibarra, Gabriel Sargissian, and FM Max Warmerdam each received $167 as they mopped up the prize money for 3-5 place.

2018

Titled Player Tuesday 58

For clear first place, GM Gadir Guseinov pocketed a $500 in the January Titled Tuesday. GM Akshat Chandra received $400 for second place. Sharing third were GMs Alexander Moiseenko, Daniel Naroditsky, Kosteniuk, Quesada, IM Viktor Matviishen, and FM Santiago Zapata. Each receives $83.33.

Titled Player Tuesday 59

GMs Gata Kamsky, Sam Sevian, and Zaven Andriasyan shared first in this event, collecting $292 each. In a six-way tie for the remaining prize money were GMs Hikaru Nakamura, Ian Nepomniachtchi, Akshat Chandra, Robert Hess, and IMs Minh Le and Maxim Lavrov. Each received $21.

Titled Player Tuesday 60

On May 1, 2018, GM Tigran Petrosian won clear first and $500 in the May Titled Tuesday. GMs Anish Giri and Fabiano Caruana tied for second, pocketing $325 each, and GMs Conrad Holt, Alireza Firouzja, Dmitry Andreikin, and IM Swayams Mishra each tied for 4th, earning $63 each. GM Fabiano Caruana won an additional $100 for winning top streamer this month.

Titled Player Tuesday 61

On June 5th 2018, two trips to the Isle of Man (best male and best female) were up for grabs in the June Titled Tuesday. Iranian GM Pouria Darini won clear first, winning $500 as well as earning entry, airfare, and accommodations for the 2018 Chess.com Isle of Man International. GMs Zaven Andriasyan, Tigran Petrosyan, IM Abdulla Gadimbayli, and FM Petr Palachev each received $225 for shared second place. WGM Mitra Hejazipour was the top-finishing female player and also won airfare, entry, and accommodations for the Chess.com Isle of Man International. GM Ruslan Ponomariov won the top streamers' prize, worth $100.

Titled Player Tuesday 62

On July 3, 2018, GM Aram Hakobyan tied for first with IM Vasiliy Korchmar, each taking home $450. GMs Conrad Holt, Andrew Tang, David Paravyan, and WIM Teodora Injac all tied for third, pocketing $125 each. GM Cemil Ali Marandi won the top streamers' prize, worth $100.

Titled Player Tuesday 62

On August 7, 2018, IM Minh Le won $500 for taking first in the August Titled Tuesday. IM Abdulla Gadimbayli, and GM Alexander Moskalenko won $325 for shared second place. Shared fourth place was good for $125 for GM Grigoriy Oparin and IM Vasiliy Korchmar. GM Eric Hansen won the top streamers' prize, worth $100.

Titled Player Tuesday 63

On September 4, 2018, there was a four-way tie for first in this month's edition of Titled Tuesday. GMs Sergey Grigoriants, Wesley So, Daniil Yuffa, and IM Arash Tahbaz each earned $325 for the first place tie, and IM Abdullah Gadimbayli finished fifth with a $100 prize. GM Jon Ludvig Hammer won the top streamers' prize, worth $100.

Titled Player Tuesday 63

On October 2, 2018, GM Boris Savchenko won his first career Titled Tuesday with a 9/10 score. The Russian GM won $500, while countrymen GM Alexander Moskalenko took a $400 second place prize, and IM Vasiliy Korchmar won clear third for $250. There were 10 players who tied for fourth, each winning a $25 prize: GMs Daniel Naroditsky, Dmitry Bocharov, Sanan Sjugirov, Avital Boruchovsky, IMs Minh Le, Shant Sargysan, FMs Ahmad Ahmadzada, Bernardo Vainzoff Sztokbant, and Roman Zheneti. IM John Bartholomew won the top streamers' prize, worth $100.

Titled Player Tuesday 64

On November 6, 2018, GMs Evgeny Tomashevsky and Grigoriy Oparin tied for first place, each receiving $450. Tying for third, Gawain Jones, Rauf Mamedov, Conrad Holt, Maxim Lugovskoy and Pavel Eljanov each earned $100 on the day. GM Robert Hess won top streamer, worth 20 subs to his audience.
