Blitz: Good or Bad for chess improvement?
Hi, chess.com members! I took a 2 week break from chess, but now I'm back! Today I'm going to talk about if blitz is good or bad for your chess improvement. I think blitz is essential for your chess improvement, but you need to use it correctly. Blitz is not the most effective source of training, but almost every chess player of any level, has played blitz in their life! Pro's of blitz:
- Improve's your pattern recognition.
- Helps you make tough decisions
- Helps you get to know your openings better.
These are some of the pro's of blitz. You have to learn to take the good and leave behind the bad. I recommend to play a specific number of blitz games (daily or weekly) which ever you prefer, and go by that schedule. I recommend this because a lot of people ''tilt'' because they play so much that they start to play at a lower level. I have been a victim of this pitfall myself. There's also the pitfall of not playing enough, this is a mistake because it's essential to any chess player to have experience in quicker time controls.

In conclution: Blitz is essential for your chess development! It is also good for your chess improvement, if used wisely! Decide on a specific amount of games or hours, that you will play blitz Daily, Weekly, etc.
