Levy Rozman, famously known as GothamChess is an American chess International Master, who has become one of the most famous personalities in the world of chess through his youtube channel. He hosts GothamChess, one of the most popular chess channels on Twitch and YouTube.
Levy is a strong chess player and has won multiple city and state tournament chamoionships. He has beaten many strong players, including GM Peter Svindler during one of the chess.com's Titled Tuesday events.
Early Life
Levy was born in Brooklyn, New York, on December 5, 1995. He lived in both New York and New Jersey growing up. As a child of Russian immigrants, Levy grew up speaking Russian as his first language and only started learning English in preschool. Levy was interested in chess from a very young age and improved rapidly.
Journey to Internation Master
He began playing chess at the age of 6 as an extracurrucular activity and participated in his first tournament at the age of 7. Levy attained the title of National Master in 2011 through the US Chess Federation, Fide Master in 2016, and International Master in 2018. Levy started as a chess coach in 2014.
