Why are some partners so horrible? I've had one that resigned for NO reason.
Saturday 18:00 to 19:00 UTC Wild (fischer random or other start positions) bughouse chess mini tourney, atleast 3 strong players said will play, we search for 4. or more players.Testing interrest for this kind of bughouse.Join here.
Are there any discord Servers out there for bughouse, especially to find partners and communicate via voice-chat? The links I found in the forum here are long dead. I'd be willing to start a new bughouse server on my own, but wan't to look for existing ones first.

It's that I am scared of having a partner who speaks a different language to what i say and i dont understand what they are talking about. Does the system avoid that?

Usually as white, I play 1. e4 and when my opponent plays ...e5 I play Bc4, Nf3 and Bxf7 with an attack. But I've seen players sacrifice the knight on f7 instead of the bishop. I am not sure as to which one is better. The bishop sac is quicker, but preventable and I prefer knights. The knight sac takes longer, but is practically unstoppable. Can someone tell me which one is better and post a game if possible.

During arenas, how do you pair with someone? It used to be that you click on the username, get an info box, and select "Partner" (back-to-back horse icon). That's gone with this new system. Click the username, and a new window opens with the user's profile, not an info-box. Click a username in the chat tab, and get the info box. Since the forced switch to the new UI, there's been a lot more jostling around of pairing ... I get a notification of being paired with someone, and then ... another notification. I win a few games with someone, and then I'm paired with someone else (no notification), but the next game I'm playing against whom I was previously paired with. So, what's the deal with pairing in arenas? Also, it would be really, really, really very nice to be paired with and stay paired with someone minimally in the same rating range as myself. I'm sure other users would appreciate this as well. Being paired with someone with a 1100 or less rating is very, very, very difficult -- these players usually do not communicate, or they don't understand the buttons, or the simply don't care, or they don't realize that they have a team member. There's a reason their rating is so low. And in the absence of STABLE arena pairing, to be able to REJECT being paired with someone, and have this decision PERSIST (but not a wholesale blocking of another user).

You can find basic history of bughouse and crazyhouse here - https://crazymaharajah.dreamwidth.org/ This is a countercultural work and the only historical study of origins. A fragment of oldest bughouse rules of presumably 40s. This is a later reprint.

Playing yesterday, I got a partner who ignored all of my suggestions: "Stall." "No Knight." Protect d8—you'll be mated."Nothing. They didn't protect the mating square, so we lost. I Blocked this player. Next game: Same partner. You'd think that blocking a player would protect you from ever having that bad partner again! But…nooo. So: ¿What is up with that? Additionally: Sometimes I join an Arena, but I know I'll have to leave at, say, 8 O'Clock. I leave the event, close "Live"…and later find out that I'd "lost" a subsequent game (sometimes two games) through "Abandonment." Seems if the software had a brain, one would be able to withdraw from the tournament, as one can with Swiss. I mean, my partner and opponent would rather not sit around for a couple minutes, just waiting for my clock to run out. They're there to play.

What is that thing??? How is it legal, or how does it make any sense??? I clicked it, and it gave 15 seconds to my opponent for real???

Martin Stahl claiming here https://www.chess.com/forum/view/site-feedback/lag-between-premoves that premoves shouldn't take time (actually I think they use a minimum of 0.1 s, but in theory they shouldn't use more(?)). The Support writes up to 2 seconds here https://support.chess.com/article/423-why-did-the-clock-times-suddenly-change-the-clocks-seem-broken and if i understand correctly it states up to 1 second here https://support.chess.com/article/213-how-do-i-fix-my-disconnect-lag-issues . Have anyone made any experiments with it? This could explain some random sudden clock change. Yet I am feeling that premoves take ages for me, and most of the time when my clock or my opponents clock finishes, the game ends (so there is no compensation, only the 3-3 mins).

In this thread I would like to suggest that we start playing longer bughouse games. It would add an interesting twist to bughouse, as most bughouse games are played in blitz time. This thread could help us organize rapid/standard time bughouse games. I and a few others are already willing to play longer bughouse games.

It is my pleasure to announce the return of the Bughouse World Championship (BWC)! The format this year will be a group stage followed by a single elimination bracket. Just like last year, there will be an Open section as well as a U2000 section. For more information about the tournament, check out the 2021 BWC Ruleset. Registration opens Friday October 8 and the tournament will commence on Monday October 25. Best of luck to everyone in this year’s event, I hope to see you there!
Is there any place that you can analyse your bughouse games? Any place you can see bughouse engines play against each other? I spent some time searching but couldn't find much meaningful results. Also, there are no lessons regarding variants on chess.com lessons section and this club seems quite dead too. Can anyone recommend me some useful sites or youtube channels where you can see some analysis on decent gamed that has been played?

Yesterday, we had a situation OTB where I checkmated my opponent sacking a Q, but my partner got mated with that Q. Initially my partner's opponent put it on one square where it would have been m2, but he didn't finish the move. Then after few seconds he noticed a checkmate in 1 on another square and put the Q there checkmating my partner. It took maybe 3-4 seconds for his last move. So, my actual question is how much time does one can take for his last move when his partner has just been checkmated. Can I sit for all my remaining time searching for m1 and if I find one, will it be a draw? Will it still count as "both games finish at the same time"
Both game seeking and partner finding take too much time (game seeking is faster with a partner, if I am not wrong), it would be great, if BH had an own lobby, where people could chat, just like the ones that arena and swiss tournaments have. People could join it with buttons, also seeking a bughouse game, or playing one game would automatically put people into the chat. That would make match finding and partner finding a lot more easier and faster.
