I am of the opinion that, yes, it would be. I think the worst part of the game is the heavy reliance on time. Because it is easier to attack than defend, being up time means you can continue to spam pieces against your opponent. A small difference in time can result in the other board having to sit. On many occasions, my position went from fine to losing because I had to sit and by the time I could move, my opponent had an addition 5 droppers. A 1-second delay should, in my belief, solve most of these issues. The pace of the game slows down, which means that mindless aggression is less effective. Furthermore, you no longer have the option to "flag" your opponent, which I always found to be an anticlimatic way to lose a chess game. There is a reason why Blitz Tournaments do not play straight time. IMPORTANT NOTE BELOW!!!! I am talking about 1 second DELAY, not increment. Not time is added to the clocks. Delay means that some time (in this case, 1 second) before your time starts running. This removes the incentive to move fast, since you can take the full second without losing time.

Hi everybody it would be nice to have statistics for bughouse too, like for normal chess... (statistics could be improved a lot by the way, just look at how good they are on lichess.org) Also it would be not bad to have a leaderboard for bughouse (again, like for normal chess)... is it that difficult? what do you think guys? is it possible?

I read an online source about bughouse and it said that queens are worth 10, knights 7, rooks 4 bishops 2 and pawns 1. Can this be improved?
I am a 1200 who wants to get to 1500 but don't know how to. Pls could anyone gimme tips?
The random pool is small and dry, +13/-13 or more strength difference matches are not quiet enjoyable, and people often resign before the matches could even start. I think in bughouse it would be quite easy to add odds, just add/substract time, and/or give pieces in hands at move 3. Much more natural, than in regular chess. Anyone has any experience with bughouse with odds?

On my bughouse stats page https://www.chess.com/stats/live/bughouse/bughorse it says that I had 3233 games with average opponent rating 1389, 1677 wins with average opponent rating 1234, 1548 losses with average opponent rating 1403, 8 draws with average opponent rating 1531. The first row means that my opponents had a total of 3233*1389 = 4490637 ELO points, while the next 3 rows mean that my opponents total ELO was 1677*1234 + 1548*1403 + 8*1531 = 4253510. This is more than 5% difference (50 ELO points). I wonder, what causes this?

As per the title, really. I've been wondering about this for a while now. If resignations did count as losses, would that discourage serial resigners? Despite rating restrictions and the block function, resignations are still a frustratingly common occurrence. I'm not asking about rating points, specifically your number of wins vs losses within bughouse under your stats. Curious why it's "resign" in bughouse and "abort" in regular chess.

I'd like to see what happened to the partner's board and am not sure how to rewind the game? Like go back a few moves or go to the start of the game? All the controls just affect my board. This seems to be the case after the game is over too?
I'd like to play with people close to me in ratings, and saw that I can set a ratings range under settings -> play. However, it seems that this is not saved to my account? When I leave chess.com and return using the same account/browser later on, the ratings restriction disappears. In particular, whenever I first visit the variants bughouse page, the game that queues up automatically never has a rating restriction.

Dumb question--how do you see your partner's ratings? I can see mine and my opponent, but not the ratings on the partner board. Clicking on name seems to show standard chess only.

Hello everyone, our club wants to organize a Bughouse tournament, with partners chosen before tournament. However, I cannot see a way to partner a friend and join the tournament in duet.Is "selecting partner before tournament" a missing feature, or do I miss any obvious way to do it?

In some variant out there you can´t drop pieces with check. This suits someone who likes the overall idea, but not the tactical superhypersharp game. In other variation both boards play to the very end, be it check mate, time out, whatever. Fight til the end! Play it out! If 3-fold draw, game goes on on the other board. If mate, on the other board one must win, the other just has to draw to team-win. One mate for each team counts as draw. This is for someone who (like me) hates sitting hard. In some games one pair is over 2 minutes, the other in their last seconds. No one is supposed to wear down the clock like that. More wins on the board, less wins on the clock. A time out destroys any chance of winning, regardless what happens on the other board. Even if this underwent 99% draws (say, in most games one team mate wins, the other loses) it´d still be an awesome game, enjoyable every step of the way. If the process is fun, who ever cares about the outcome.
Instead of blocking someone so that you won't end up being their partner in a random bughouse game, can there be a different command instead of blocking? If you block someone, you won't hear what they say. For example you don't want to partner up with your friend who's around the same raiting as you, but you still want to talk to them. It could be Blocking = wont partner random games Censor = no communication, and no matches in random games.

My teammates and opponents are resigning on the 0th and first move. I wonder why?
