In some variant out there you can´t drop pieces with check. This suits someone who likes the overall idea, but not the tactical superhypersharp game.
In other variation both boards play to the very end, be it check mate, time out, whatever. Fight til the end! Play it out! If 3-fold draw, game goes on on the other board. If mate, on the other board one must win, the other just has to draw to team-win. One mate for each team counts as draw. This is for someone who (like me) hates sitting hard. In some games one pair is over 2 minutes, the other in their last seconds. No one is supposed to wear down the clock like that. More wins on the board, less wins on the clock. A time out destroys any chance of winning, regardless what happens on the other board. Even if this underwent 99% draws (say, in most games one team mate wins, the other loses) it´d still be an awesome game, enjoyable every step of the way. If the process is fun, who ever cares about the outcome.
