Been around 2300 for MONTHS now. Keep getting above 2300 and then falling back down again. Anyone been in the same boat? Any advice? (And yes, I know looking at the board and trying to calculate to the end of the line is the best way to go about it.)
If anyone would like to work with me, let me know and we can improve together.
I search a partner for training for 10+0 or 5+0, I am 1400-1500, Europe time.

Hi All. I am fairly new to chess. Started playing a little in April. Have put more time in over the last couple months and am sitting at ~850 ELO. My goal is to be >1000 by the end of the year. I am looking for some new friends to play games against and have fun getting better at chess with. Cheers!
I have heard that a good way to improve is to find one or more training partners you are comfortable with, but still haven't had the opportunity to try it. So this could be the place for anyone who is looking for the same idea and people at the same level. im 749 and wanting to hit 1000 as soon as i can

Of course I don't play it against everything, I usually change plans when some moves are played and have different approaches, however, many people have suggested me to 'play open', and since I practiced the 2 knight's defense my win rate as black has plummeted. I did pretty well with the Czech (55% won, 40% lost, rest draws), now I barely get a 50/50 chance.  With white I do play with more initiative and have around a 60+% win rate.  I know there's a period of adjustment when changing openings, but I like the idea of playing a bit slower as black, let them have the center and then striking back. I'm often good at tactics so I made good counters or come-backs. With the 2 knights defense I find myself in chaotic games and never being able to develop tension in the center, most of the time games ended up being decided by who makes the least blunders which I don't like at all. It kind of shocks me mentally as well, since before I didn't find cumbersome to play as black, now I'm beginning to assume I'll struggle. Aside from having a lot of theory, why shouldn't I play hypermodern openings as a beginner? Unless I answered everything with it like a london system player I truly don't see the issue. If you have any advice or any repertoire suggestions I'd be grateful.

So, i'll always end up playing some lazy move (such as a one move threat) because truly i have no clue what to do at the board, what should i study? middle games? strategy? plan making?

I keep getting VERY close to 1200 elo and then fumble every game. Twice now I've gotten to 1193 and then I play like a moron when I'm just about to cross the line, dropping loads of elo. Anyone else had anything similar happen to them? What would you advise?
When I was stuck in the 1200-1500 rating range I made this huge mistake that was holding me back, when I look back on it now I understand why, but I've been noticing that other 1200-1500s have been struggling with it too and I know the pain of being stuck at that rating range. The tip is STOP BEING LAZY. The main way that I was lazy was not calculating correctly, I would see a "good move" (something barely playable that I found in 5 seconds) and play it without a second thought, the only thing keeping me alive was my intuition. Some common examples that I've seen are people trading an excellent piece such as a knight outpost for a bad bishop that is blocked by pawns, people do this because they are too lazy and don't want to calculate for themself and their opponent's responses, there are other ways you can be lazy: such as not wanting to study or start studying (this will hold you back at every level), and even with things like game review (how do you expect to improve if you aren't directly addressing your problems). This is the most important tip to improve, and I hope it helps you.

i choked 3 OTB games which i was completely winning from my nerves. Any tips anyone? It appears my chess performance is much worse from my nerves rather than when i hide my opponents rating online as I can see a person

I have heard that a good way to improve is to find one or more training partners you are comfortable with, but still haven't had the opportunity to try it. So this could be the place for anyone who is looking for the same idea and people at the same level. I am 2000 rapid and my goal for the coming year is 2200, looking for training partners at similar level and very ambitious about their chess goals. Would like to have focused sessions with discussions on single parts of the game, to fix opening knowledge, strengthen endgames, get strategic ideas and more. Send a DM if interested or just reply here.
