I cobbled it together with a list of demons and chucked in a bunch of sac outlets, draws, and Shadowborn Apostles. Strategy Try to spam Apostles, get out your commander, and then start sacrificing Shadowborn. Your commander will get big quickly, drawing a lot of cards and amassing tons of +1/1 counters. Because he has flying and (can get)lifelink, you can regain the health lost from his card draw and bring up a large possibility of a commander damage win. If you are playing versus a deck that tutors a lot(which might sound uncommon but is a fairly popular strategy), you can sac six Apostles and pull a Ob Nixilis, Unshackled out of nowhere. Nixilis is also another great sac outlet, who will also grow bigger when you sac creatures. To sum up the strategy, just spam Shadowborn Apostles and get free tutors for huge demons that win the game.

Unlike many Rakdos decks, it has almost nothing around sacrificing permanents and instead it is focused on using its commander to bring out big beasties quickly. The Creaturebase The creaturebase for this deck mostly consists of large stompy creatures meant to overrun your opponents. Because of the commander, we can get these creatures out quickly and cheaply. I tried to avoid cards with high devotion because Rakdos only affects the colorless mana price. The remainder of the creatures are small cheap creatures like Plague Spitter and Hammer Mage(who also doubles as artifact removal) to deal a small damage to opponents so we can play our commander turn 4. Admittedly, it's a bit mean to run Blightsteel and Kozi, but I feel like I deserve to cheese somebody after getting annihilated repeatedly with other decks. The Spells The only spells this deck runs are Twilight's Call and Living Death, which both have similar effects to revive graveyards. The Artifacts This deck runs a surprising amount of artifacts, most of which is ramp. There is also Lightning Greaves and Swiftfoot Boots to protect your commander and/or your beasties. In addition I run Staff of Nin in this deck for the chip(so I can play the commander) and draw. The last artifact in here is Vedalken Orrery to pull huge blockers out of nowhere. The Enchantments The enchantments in this deck cause a lot of physical pain to slower decks. Five of them give creatures haste or unblockable, which really helps in this deck. Pestilence and Pyrohemia can act as removal and let you play your commander more easily. Warstorm Surge and Pandemonium can really do a lot of damage to your opponents The Manabase The only thing I can say about this(besides the fact that it isn't cheap) is that you should play Hall of The Bandit Lord later in the game to give cards like Blightsteel haste while not wasting one of your early land drops. Budget Options Fine, this deck is a bit expensive. It has gone down with the crash of the magic market, but it still costs a chunk of money. ($425 at the time of writing) Step 1: Take out Blightsteel and replace it with Walking Ballista, take out Sneak Attack. ($375) Step 2: The landbase needs to go. Take out Blackcleave Cliffs, Blood Crypt, Graven Cairns, and Hall of the Bandit Lord. ($325) Step 3: Take out the eldrazi titans. ($270) Thanks for your time, I hope you enjoyed the article! -1User

I was playing standard ranked on mtga and I came across Covertgoblue’s Budget Mono White deck. It was miserable for him to be CRUSHED. His companion is Lurrus of the Dream Den. I will summarize the game. To be honest, I knew exactly what is in his deck For he copied covertgoblue. Round 2: Thought erasure. Took out his karanetra’s blessing. Turn 3: He put Lurrus into husband hand and I thought erasured him again, he had to discard it. Turn 4-15 (?) He used Gingerbrute to swing me and I could not block. I used things like Dismal Backwater to gain life, thus surviving. After that: I swung him with tomebound lich (1/3 with deathtouch and lifelink, blue black creature) and he blocked with Gingerbrute, which had vigilance with Sentinel’s Mark. Then he put Karametra’s blessing and I drowned it in the loch (creature removal or counterspell). He put Gods Willing and I drowned it again. He sacd the Alseid of life’s bounty to save it, but he had no more hex proof/indestructible/ protection spells. Therefore, I lava coiled and removed it so it didn’t not kill me. I used tomebound lich and murderous rider to gain life still have more than 5. Later: he placed a healer’s hawk and all that glitters in it, making it a 2/2 with flying and lifelink. However, I played Bolas and he conceded. Do not try the budget mono white deck by covertgoblue. I played it. IT is trash. Hail Bolas!!!!!!! Long live Grixis Superfriends!!!!! Long live control decks!!! note: “Hail Bolas!” Came from tappedout.net or tappedout.com. I forgot the last part of the domain.
Modern is a format that lands in a sweet spot between overpowered and underpowered, and because of that, it can be very difficult to wrap your head around. Hopefully this article helps you understand it more. Im going to start off with the basic stuff. "what is a format?", and "what is modern?". Starting with the first one, a format is a way to play magic. Formats make sure that someone who has been collecting cards for years cant put all their best cards together in a 60 card deck and obliterate someone who just started. Think of a format as a box, Inside each box (format) are certain sets. Those sets dictate what you can and cannot put in your deck. For example if your playing standard (this is a type of format) you can only play with cards from sets allowed in the format. In addition to this each set has a ban list, a list of cards that have been banned from play in that format (some more powerful formats have a restricted list, meaning you can play restricted cards but can only put one of each restricted card in your deck). Modern is a format with all cards from eighth edition (a very old set from 2003) and newer. Generally, the more cards in a format, the more consistent and powerful the average deck is. This is because with more sets, deck builders have more cards to choose from to meet their decks goal / way to win the game (Examples include creatures, a specific combo, draining your opponent of resources). Because modern has such a wide selection of cards, it is a fairly powerful format. Great, now that you understand what modern is, lets get into how it works. The best decks are built to accomplish a goal, and are able to do it consistently. Usually in modern your deck should win (or set up a winning position) by turn 4-5, so if a deck cant find the cards it needs to win fast, your opponent will beat you to the finish line. Because of this, your deck should only contain cards that help your deck meet its goal or cards that help you find the cards needed for your deck to meet its goal. This is very important, and often overlooked by players new to the format. When building a modern deck, I like to start with a few cards that work together to achieve a common goal, then I work to build those cards a shell (add cards to the deck that work well with those cards). Your shell should do one or all of these things: make your goal more achievable or happen more often protect your goal from the other deck, so your opponent cant stop / delay your goal if your goal doesn't straight up win you the game, make it better you might have one more question "how do I tell if a card is good in modern?". Well, I can start to explain, but this is the type of thing that comes with experience. When evaluating a card for modern, check to see: "how much mana does it cost?" (is that amount obtainable?), "is it good against other popular decks?", "are there many other cards that work well with it?", and "if i play this on turn [insert converted mana cost here], how many turns will it take for this card to be effective?" I hope this helped you get a better grasp of what modern is, if you have any more questions please comment them below and i'll (eventually) respond.

So it seems like many of us play Magic the Gathering Arena. With the new friends list feature, we could add each other as friends. Just share your Magic the Gathering Arena name. Mine is Foxy#71245.
Discuss the release of the Ikoria set here.
Artwork isn’t mine, I stole it from the internet. Maybe next time I’ll create my own art.

It’s seems like everyone either doesn’t know Avatar, or doesn’t like it (except for me and @Grizz29). So what are your favorite movies then?
Forum to talk about magic the gathering. The club’s notes are to limited since you can’t add pictures or videos.
Has anybody heard of Pandemic Legacy? Have only played Pandemic. Supposed to be good.

Field of the Dead was recently banned in standard. Here’s what WotC has to say: “Since the Standard rotation, one of the strongest and most metagame-defining decks has been a ramp deck that uses Golos, Tireless Pilgrim to find Field of the Dead. The deck has not only maintained a high win rate and metagame share, but has also restricted the space of viable competitive strategies in Standard. Field of the Dead's ability to produce a constant stream of Zombie tokens for little resource investment gives the strategy an often-inevitable win condition in long games, making it difficult for traditional control decks or other ramp decks to go "over the top" with a more powerful late game. On the other end of the spectrum, ample anti-aggro tools and fast ramp enable the deck to defend itself against traditional attack decks before shoring up the ground with defensive Zombie tokens. This has forced the metagame into extreme positions, with hyper-aggressive red decks and planeswalker-heavy decks being among the only archetypes to consistently put up favorable results against Field of the Dead decks. Beyond just the strength of the strategy, Field of the Dead presents a number of other problems for the metagame. The repetitive, on-board nature of its effect can cause games to frequently play out in a similar, deterministic way. Since Field of the Dead is a land, it can be difficult for many archetypes to interact with, further limiting the metagame's ability to adapt. Finally, the long-term advantage Field of the Deadprovides often leads to prolonged games. We've observed a marked increase in matches going to time in tabletop tournaments and in average game length in digital play. Field of the Dead ramp decks represented 42% of the field at Mythic Championship V and maintain both a high play rate and win rate on MTG Arena and Magic Online. Due to the strength and prevalence of the archetype, its warping effect on the metagame, and the undesirable play patterns it creates, Field of the Dead is banned in Standard. (This includes both Best-of-One and Best-of-Three Standard on MTG Arena.)” Anybody else feels the same sense of relief as I did (I personally hated that card)? I started playing Magic in the early 90s and played with friends lots until my fiancé made me quit because she hated the game so much. One friend adopted my cards and even lost them later (insert tears here). Fast forward to now and my two sons, in their late teens, after playing Yugioh when they were little, decided to get into Magic. Imagine the pride and joy swelling in my heart! I now have several decks (thank God you can buy singles online--unheard of back in the day) and we play on weekends. My wife frowns sternly and sighs, but she can't put the kibosh on it this time. No way. My boys and I have way too much mana to let that happen. Ha. Don't get me wrong, she's a great wife and mom, but she just doesn't like games. Anyway, my point is that I want to give a shout out to all the older/returning players in the club!
