NW WASHINGTON CHESS CLUB From today's email from the Bellingham Chess Club: Hello Chess Fans, As a follow-up to the last club newsletter, I would like to let you know that Tanner Feemster, our club TD, has set up an online club on the Chess.com platform. To register online (free) to join the NW Washington Chess Club, go to https://www.chess.com/club/nw-washington-chess-club. In collaboration with the Bellingham Knights Chess Club, the online club is for players of all levels in NW Washington to play together, share ideas, and build a community. There are no restrictions to join...scholastic and adult players are all welcome. Our chess club is focused on in-person chess gatherings, but it is a good way to practice tactics and chess play during the Coronavirus lockdown. This club will host online tournaments throughout the week. The first tournament will start on Thursday 5/21 (no USCF membership required). Tuesday night blitz: 5 round Swiss, time control 5/5, starts 6PM Thursday night rapid: 2 round Swiss, time control 10/5, starts 6PM Sunday rapid: 4 round Swiss, time control 15/10, starts 2PM Additionally, I have found a potential venue where we can play on outside tables when groups are allowed again. It is the SchweinHause Biergarten in the downtown Bellingham area. It is a family/kid friendly place, dogs are welcome, game/chess friendly, and features draft beer, German sausage plates and pretzels cooked in their own wood-fired ovens. We will give it a try...stay tuned.

Every year at Chess Jam, we have door prizes. To enter, you put a riddle on a card and drop it in the door prize box. Well, for Chess Jam Online, here's the spot to post your riddle and be eligible for the door prizes. Only one riddle per player. Don't post a riddle here until after you've registered for Chess Jam Online. So, after you register for Chess Jam Online, post your riddle here! If you wish, you can obfuscate your riddle's answer by putting the answer's text in white. Then people can guess the answer, before they "drag" their mouse across the answer to see it. For example: What do you call an alligator in a vest? An investigator!
