Chess in London

Currently in London on vacation, and really don’t have too much time for chess related matters. However, did fit in a few minutes to visit the Chess and Bridge shop at 44 Baker Street. The book selection was really first rate, probably a couple of thousand unique titles if not more, and a good selection of harder to find books. Wish I had more time but unfortunately the shop was closing and I doubt I will find the time to revisit.

Anyway, they informed me chess4less was their US affiliate. Just thought I would pass it along.

Hey, I was just there also, on 6-May-19.

Had a wonderful time, spent about a half hour, picked up a couple books (like I needed more books) and a board - made it back to the states in perfect condition.

The folks were great, then knew their chess stuff, and made me feel most welcome. Loved the chess tables they had set up outside and inside, and all the equipment they had on display.

When I go back to London I will be stopping in to visit again. I cannot recommend them enough.

I visited it last week for the first time. I will definitely go back.

There used to be a similar shop elsewhere in central London, near Great Portland Street. I went there a few times in the 1990s. Whether the Baker St shop has any connection to the earlier one, I don't know.
