Folding Boards

I'm considering buying a folding board with 2" or 2 1/4" squares (still debating the exact size).  I like playing on a wooden board but I want something that's a little less awkward to lug about.  Anyone out there go this route?  Pros and cons?  Do you really save enough space to make it worth it?

Also, I'm currently leaning towards a Wegiel board. Any thoughts? Any problems?  Thanks.

I have three folding boards and just sold one.

Two of them came from HoS and two from The Rochester Chess Center, chessset.com.

The board I just sold was a 2" one in Maghogany and Maple.  It was paired amd sold with a 3.5" set.  This board is noticeably smaller than my other three that are 2.25".. So if travelling size matters the 2" one is more portable.

The Rochester Chess Center has the letters for the algebraic as lower case and I like that better than the all capitals of the HoS.

The HoS Deluxe bag is designed and works perfectly to carry these folding boards, a set or two, a clock and other things.

Thanks.  That's what's kept me considering the 2".  I love my 2.25" boards but they seem a little large for lugging about.  I'll have the check the Rochester Chess Center out.

The BCE magnetic boards are way more portable than any folding board, much nicer and seamless too.

Yes, that is right.

The only problem is the BCE board is more expensive and I do not believe any are available at this time.  When Jonas came out with these they are of a limited number.

I have a BCE board paid for and coming with a set that is being made now.

The BCE boards are intriguing but I'm not sure I'm willing to wait or pay the additional price just yet.

As a note, the HoS Deluxe bag is good for the 2.25" folding board and not necessary for the 2" folding board.

The 2" board is a little under 19" across while the 2.25" one is 21.25" across.
