Cheers mister buddy! Yeah I like that set, a review of that is in pipeline but still waiting for some replacement pieces.
Local finds

True mister Wits. It's just most of the boards I found, they had some varnish coating applied and I suspect it's done afterwards and not professionally judging from the look of it lol. More often then not I see those old boards have varnish coating, I guess it's the trend in that time.
I sanded them lightly with steelwool 0000 just enough to get rid of the varnish coating and touch of oil to maintain them.
Now you're here, do you perhaps know what board from the 3rd picture is made of? There is something strange about that board, when I was done sanding it down it was matte finish but by the time I want to put a drop of oil it was already kinda shiny. Is it because the nature of the wood that's it's oily?
I’m really not very good at identifying different woods, but I’m guessing Padauk as a possibility. Padauk tends to be an oily wood which can be annoying when trying to apply an oil finish. You might try applying a dewaxed shellac first, let it dry real good, then an oil finish. You might pm @Bryan-HallWS, he has far more expertise than I do.
(Edited @Bryan-HallWS for correct spelling.)

Lardy 85mm weighted from Revanche. This set is bit unusual comparing to regular Lardy's, the pawn has flat base and kinda big heads on the king and queen.

This one was a totally surprise, it was an ad that has been up for few days. There were few bookmarked on it so there were few interested in it but no one bought it. The ad has no measurement, only few pics of the set. I saw a Lardy knight and it looks like 3.75" I'd figure. He's asking a price that I'd figure if I sell the board I get the pieces practically for nothing so I bought it without question asked.
When the set arrived this morning, I was kinda shocked to accept a huge box. I measured the square size it was 75mm(2.95")! Then I opened the box and measured the king in anxiety. My caliper went haywire, couldn't get pass 10cm so I took another caliper and it measured 11.9cm (4.67")!
I thnk I hit the jackpot

haha good idea, I think I will! Yes all pieces are straight, no leaners at all. There are loose weights though but that's easy to fix and while at it I will replace the felts with 100% wool cloth

I still can't believe the humungous size of the pieces, so I measured up all pieces.
King 11.9cm(4.67")/5.17cm(2.03") - 86g
Queen 10.9cm(4.29")/5.21cm(2.05") - 86.3g
Bishop 9.18cm(3.61")/4.22cm(1.66") - 51.45g
Knight 8.76cm(3.44")/4.28cm(1.68") - 61.98g
Rook 6.96cm(2.74")/3.95cm(1.55") - 50.84g
Pawn 6.46cm(2.54")/3.76cm(1.48") - 30.12g

Wow! those new Lardy sets are nice especially the 4.67 set. Is that the same one they used in the movie From Russia with Love? Also, is the Revanche a repro or a vintage set made by an alternate manufacturer?

Uhm, tbh I'm not really into Lardy's so I don't know about the pieces used in the movie. As for Revanche ( I have a couple of sets from Revanche) they're not repro but sold by Revanche. The storage boxes have Revanche brand on them.

Here is blog about the movie. https://www.chess.com/blog/SFN/james-bond-from-russia-with-love. Thanks for the info about Revanche. I had no idea.

It could be the same set as in the movie indeed except mine is not lacquered and the dark pieces are brown stained.
Nice find Michael! The set looks really nice.
