Luxury chess set

Hi I want to buy a very nice luxury chess set.

For around 1-2k usd

Any suggestions?

If you want luxury, go with something from Oleg Raikis. It is at the top of your budget but not too many have one of his chess sets. He gives top notch materials and out of this world craftsmanship. I would say Noj is another well known producer of high quality chess sets. I am not sure I would call it luxury, but the craftsmanship is outstanding. They have a wait list but you can be added to it. They are well known for their Dubrovnik sets. @Shaunlawler just purchased one. As for chess boards, I would consider MTM Wood (https://www.mtmwoodcom) a luxury board. It is not cheap but looks outstanding. His boards are shipped to the buyer in a custom crate. Here are a couple of threads about it.

@Martinthrock I currently have 16 tournament sized wood sets. 8 of them are reproductions and 8 are vintage/antique. Chess sets coming out of India are wonderful. I absolutely love them. Here is my #1 favorite of all 16. It called the Collectors Series from House of Staunton.

Here my #2 called Morphy Cooke from Staunton Castle.

Here is my #3 favorite. It is a Cooke from Official Staunton.

Here is my 1849 set from Chess Bazaar.

As great as the above are, those do not compare to Noj. The craftsmanship and finish are top notch and a cut above the other sets I posted above. Here is my Noj 1950 Dubrovnik set.

With your budget being between $1,000 to $2,000 you can pretty much buy most reproductions. You can buy sets from India which would likely run you up to $600. There are some more expensive from House of Staunton though. A Noj set would run you around $1,000 plus shipping and VAT/taxes. A 9cm Staunton set from Oleg Raikis set would start around $1,200 if I remember correctly. His 1849 runs $1,500 and up depending upon material choices and other options.

If I had your budget I would go with Oleg Raikis. The materials and attention to detail can’t be beat. I don’t personally have one but I would love it if I did. Members like @MGT88 and @Pawnerai who actually own an Oleg set have nothing but great things to say. Both members have purchased sets produced in India as well as from Noj. If they say Oleg is great then I believe them.

That’s what I would do. That’s not to say you should do the same. If you like the set you posted then buy it. It is your money. Buy what you like because you have to live with it. Don’t let me or others sway you because you are not us. You are you. Buy what you like.

You can buy your dream set, but you have to have one. In chess you don't play with gold, marble or ivory. That can be very representative, and to play with such a set is true luxury. But to try out many styles of chess sets by buying second hand is true luxury, too. To fall in love with a vintage set and pay what it happens to cost. To support artists and craftsmen by buying first class reproductions of classics or ingenious modern sets. In the beginning, you can't know what you want. You should not start your quest with spending a whole lot of money. You can buy a book or two on the history of the making of chess pieces, you can visit makers. Spending your time is your only sensible luxury now.

Tip: Look at the knights, those take the most time to make

Just to add me don't have no fake Picasso let alone a real one , Still you get my point . The market is flooded with fakes & repros

Well this is what the OP asked for. Another member already suggested in a deleted post about getting a vintage or antique Jaques set. The OP replied that he wanted a new set. Given his budget is $1,000 to $2,000 Oleg and Noj is where he should look. And I am with you... I would want an Oleg set too if I was in the market for a new set.
