Sko, do yourself a huge favor. Get that Bauer book. Why listen to a 1500 player, when you can listen to a 2600 player? ;)

I have been studying Bauer's Philidor Files book and like it. Barsky's Modern Philidor is also interesting. They differ on how black should respond to the 3...e5 4.dxe5 dxe5 5.Qxd8+ Kxd8 6.Bc4 line. Bauer recommends 6...Be6, while Barsky prefers 6...Ke8.
Crazy game! I think I misplayed in the opening, with a delayed Bxf7 from white I was down material and tried desperately to attack. Please help me analyze!
This was a good game!
Some errors in it, e.g. 19.Bxd6? by Yermo, when 19.Qd4 or 19.e5 would have been unpleasant, and Black missing a rather easy win after 27...b5.
But in general, this was a good game.
Hehe.. xD
This sacriface is the easiest sacriface to deal with in my experience. Just beat an IM 4-0 on ICC, and he didn't stand a chance against my philidor.

Something interesting is the early ...d6-d5 (pre-f4)

White can also play f4 at move 5, with good results.

It seems that at this point, a strategy (and I think Bauer expands on this) is around holding the strongpoint on e5, to keep central control.
5. Ne2 actually doesn't have as good of results in my database, but nonetheless...

Only one time has f4 been played at this time, and not even between masters.
