Caro Kann is my first opening I have learned so I am still having trouble.

1. e4,c6 2. d4, d5 3....,

on move 3 whites responce breaks down in to two main categories and then further splits from there. they are 3. exd4,... and 3. any other move, dxe4. he can deviate on move two but it is not the normal responce. you will just have to figure it out and start studying the caro kann in greater detail.

Currently, I am using the chessable caro kann course. I am halfway to finishing it

How do I paste the chess board here so I can show what I do in that scenario?

If white doesn’t play 2.d4 in the Caro, then in essentially all instances, 2…d5 is by far the best move

Does this have the right idea?
