Internet or not, it only takes a second to put a short text.
Chess Manners

Don't take it personally. Most people are just here to play and want to win. In person, people are usually nicer.

“” was from the NJROTC creed.

Internet or not, at least say hello and goodbye. The problem is that most of those players won't read this.

I often send my opponent a note after the game, and if they are from a foreign country, I will use an on line translator to translate into their language, then copy and paste it. I find it fun to do that. And of course, my notes are always positive...."Thank you...good game....etc".

Sorry, if I say this directly, but in that case you should play against a computer.

Reply to MelvinGarvey. You have obviously given it a lot of thought. I agree that I am in the minority, but that doesn't mean I am wrong. Chess.com is a community, with every connotation of the term..

It's a sign of the times in which we live. Simple courtesy and being considerate of others are things of the past to most people, today. The majority of children are no longer raised with these values, and upon reaching adulthood will exhibit the same narcissistic and anti-social behaviors that we so commonly see, now.
Please be assured that in the months and years ahead these problems will metasticize and grow much, much worse.
I have played hundreds of games on chess.com. I can count on one hand how many times I have received a simple thank you or even a good game. I will invariably give a simple thx or gg on nearly every game I play. Is there a bug on Chess.com that doesn't show comments at the end of the game or are chess players on Chess.com lacking in simple courtesy.
