interesting, but I doubt it. A GM is based only on pure hard work and talent, using your right hand or left hand matters little.
Are you implying we are more than just simple statistics? Wishful thinking :P

When I speak about IQs, and especially mine, I am refering to the SB IQ test, which is the most common IQ test.

Hahah same here Jay, same here.
If your IQ was given by a liscenced psychologist or school system, or Mensa, than congratulations - you are in the top 2%.
If not, then you might want to be test by a professional, like those listed about. They can also answer questions about the IQ tests, and what the scores represent.
mine is 136. it was given by the school system. If I could remember more than 4 damn numbers at a time I'de officialy be a genius :( But IQs are arbitrary, inconsistent, and over valued.
IQ tests are no more abritary, inconsistent, and over-valued than any other test you might take for school or even a job.
If you also claim it to be elitist, then that is same argument made by people who support a school's football time.
And what is wrong with being a genius? ;)

My IQ is 170: I am 85 right brain + 85 left brain.
This gives me all the IQ I need to know how to move the pieces
One way to measure, and while it is basic, does show some differences between creative and not-so-creative people.
It involves a photo, illustration, or other image that is ambigious. Ask a person what this image is about. A not-so-creative person may see one or two things, and may even get annoyed. A creative person may see 4,5 or more things.

lol...a singularly uncreative way of ascertaining creativity, I must say.

lol...high praise indeed...
but there was a blind GM playing a simul moving pieces with his toes...now that was fantastic!
I would be pretty creeped out if he offered me a handshake at the end of the game.
there is an upcoming group for left handed players: http://www.chess.com/groups/home/the-lefties
Not only are IQ tests a poor measure of intelligence, but lefties being more intelligent is really just a theory. Actually I would think most chess players are right handed because chess demands logic, not creativity. That is why a lot of artists are left handed because they are more creative. That is also why most people are right handed because it takes logic to function properly during the day.

Are you sure ?....

About what?

That is, if you ascribe to the left/right brain = creativity/logic theory that none of the available research supports. (If you want some links, just ask - I have the weakness to believe google can work fine).
I'm a lefty! It comes quite in handy because it compliments right-handed players. According to your statistic, 22% of male GMs are lefties? That seems to make a statement considering only 10% of the general population are lefties. Does that mean lefties have twice the chance of being a GM than righties?
interesting, but I doubt it. A GM is based only on pure hard work and talent, using your right hand or left hand matters little.
