would it be legal to develop a bulldog chess engine, and use it in rated games?
@Martin0 has once proposed not to include games with engines in the rating.

but, if someone had an engine, would they be punished now?
seeing as the rule has not been passed.
if so, what would be the process to pass a rule against the use of engines?

I would consider it illegal and a form of cheating to use an engine in Bulldog chess when that was not agreed upon before the game. The question is if we must make this explicit in the current correspondence rules.
As far as I know there aren't yet any engines that can make a really substantial difference in a game between strong human players.
I'd agree with that.
I was just curious, as I felt that the arrival of a (strong) engine could seriously impact the bulldog chess scene and that rules should (probably) be created in advance.
still, it's just ramblings so no need to pay attention ![]()
