This is a Chu Shogi game between @dax00 and @evert823.

The handicap consists of one player being allowed to swap two friendly pieces. I will let @dax00 explain the exact conditions.

Enjoy the game!

This isn't a handicap game. "Handicap" means one player has a fixed advantage over the other player. Anyways...

In this game, players can swap two friendly pieces, if they could move to each other's squares were they vacant. This is intended to serve primarily as developmental assistance, not for defense or otherwise. For this reason, pawns, lions, royal pieces, and pieces attacked by the last move cannot swap. Each player can use this swap mechanic up to 16 times. Swapping counts as a move by itself.

Pawns are not allowed to swap. Learning how to manage pawn formation properly is critical. There was no way I was going to allow them to swap.

From comment #2: "For this reason, pawns, lions, royal pieces, and pieces attacked by the last move cannot swap."

This was a typo from my side. I meant to play P - 10h and I did not intend any pawn swapping.

evert823

When I do intend to swap pieces, i would announce it explicitly, since we haven't got any notation standard for swapping pieces.

I was thinking that regular move notation would be fine for swaps. Western notation likes indicating all the intricacies of a move. Japanese notation doesn't bother to distinguish, unless it's important. I prefer Japanese notation, but that would give you a hard time.

If you really wanted to specify a swap, I think this format is okay: [square1]s[square2]

Evenness does not necessarily make a structure balanced. You'll have to stake some positional claims (and win them) if you are to have any chance.
