You can't play variants in the mobile app.

1) because not very many people play variants
2) because it costs money to develop applications
but you can play variants using a browser app on your phone.

YOU CAN! I found this goofy-ahh way- you click on tournaments, go to, “daily”, go to, “upcoming arena tournaments”, then click on one. THEN, click on the section of the screen near the top saying, new game, then go to the drop-down box on top, and click a variant! If the one u wants not there, click, more variants! Sry if it’s confusing-hope this helps! :D
