Sound very interesting, I would try.
Infinite/Musketeer Chess Hybrid

Also, those triangle units are called Jäger units by Vickalan.

I'd say choose from the ten shown on the musketeer chess website here.
Cannon, Elephant, Fortress, Archbishop, Dragon, Chancellor, Hawk, Unicorn, Spider, Leopard. Of course players can decide to use other custom pieces.

Can you do a blue board?

Basically what happens is each player chooses a piece to replace the hawks in the jager units (triangular pawn structures). First, the white player names a piece, then the black player names a piece, then they take turns saying whether they want it to go in the left or right jager units, then play proceeds as normal. I would say that it shouldn't be allowed to use the hawk or chancellor, since both are already used. I think I have this all correct.
I was trying to think of a way to combine a couple chess variants, when this idea came to me. What if instead of starting with two hawks, we chose what pieces would start in the triangle pawn formations musketeer-style? It could also work to replace the chancellors, or even one of each.
