"i wish there is an optin called "hide my online status" in my online poptions ,,coz my pc is always on and mostly it has a chess.com page openned"

Seconded. My rationale: I have seen people 'on-line', and wait for their move, but no response. This may be because they are logged on but away from their pc, or reading articles, or in live-chess, etc. And: I know people who have waited for a move from me, when I have been elsewhere on the site (or having dinner or something.) If this was easy, it would be good (and give a sense of control too, which would be nice.)

are not playing.

On a certain other site they had a one minute chess pool.

You join the pool a get paired for games automatically.  It worked really well.

Anyone else like the idea?

I must say that generally I prefer chess.com.

Is it possible for tournament director to send invitation to all nation members, like if i want to create a Slovenian only tournament, i must invite one by one.

Ability to save preferences to be used as settings when Starting New Game. The saved preferences could be used for:

  • Name of game
  • Opponent
  • Time per move
  • Color
  • Rated game
  • Min Games of opponent
  • Max timeouts of oppenent
  • Speed
  • Rating range
  • Auto start

The settings could be saved right from a button on the filled in Start page.

Once you have your settings saved, you can click on Start New Game and the game form appears with all these fields filled in. Then you can edit the ones you want to change and submit for a new game. The option always exists to save any changes in the form.

While you're at it, you could create a set of named templates: e.g. speedy, newcomer, bad-timekeeper, etc.

Simple enhancement:

In the chat panel under the board in live chess, make all instances of a player name clickable to display the popup menu. It is currently impossible to get the popup menu for a player if they do not speak to you, as the "Game Over" message and "[player] has closed the game window" do not contain clickable links.

You should be able to translate whole pages with services like Babelfish (http://babelfish.yahoo.com/) or Google Translate (http://translate.google.com).

Here is the first page of this forum in french via Babelfish:

Would be nice if we knew where the puzzle of the day came from.

For example from a game between Kramink & Anand, a composition from the 16th century, from a game Judit Polgar played when she was four, wherever.  Thanks! Smile

paul211 (and everyone else):

i appreciate your suggestions, but we aren't going to do things that can be generally and simply done outside of chess.com. we can't be your classical music station - use Pandora.com for that. and translation is a MAJOR undertaking, and until then, those work :) same reason we don't offer a chess.com bookmarking service - your browser already does a great job!

I think it makes sense for chess.com to translate their helpfiles and other documentation. I can see a good argument for translating some articles/news items.  But translating forum posts is silly. So many forum posts aren't worth the bits they're written on.

just a humble request, why not giving the member points u get a real life? maybe u can get some things, or buy things like more tactics trainer, get some special trophies to give or allow to enter more than a tournament (this is for non premium members like me) the idea is that the member should be used in something!!

The games list in live chess sometimes gets so big that it's difficult to find the good players to observe.  Maybe it could be sorted....by lower player's rating.

I like this idea, but I think first there would need to be a revision to the way those points are awarded lest the forums end up flooded with nonsense in pursuit of member points that now have a redeemable value.

Perhaps implementing one of the post rating systems that has been suggested and tying it to your member points would help mitigate this (i.e. if enough people "thumbs down" your post you lose that posts member points, you don't get member points until someone else posts in a thread you create etc.)

What would be really cool after the points have a redeemable value, is if users could then wager member points on games and have the amount of the wager automatically transferred to the winner....

One of my main problems is when I make a premove on a LIVE game. Where for instance my piece may capture if another takes the piece it is defending, if I decide to take back this pre-move (before the other player has moved), I am stuck and unable to do so..

Sorry - let me make this more clear. In Online Games you can undo/delete any conditional moves before your opponent has played their turn, however conditional moves (or pre-moves) in Live cannot be taken back. Nothing is worse than watching from the sidelines helplessly as a poor move is played from your side.

Add the posibility to allow/deny vacation in tournaments. This can even be a premium feature.

Manchero

It would be nice to be able to add our own games to the chess.com database.

Example; I play a game OTB and there is a different variation that I would like to have easy reference to via game explorer (under my games) when playing on chess.com. At present I can check master games/my games/specific other member's games.

Is it possible to have an 'add game to my database' link, where we are directed to a page that requires us to type the moves, then have it saved as if we had actually played the game on chess.com?
