Can the Open Seek option be put into the drop down menu on the My Home button?

On the Team Vote Chess page under NEXT MOVE, can we get some sort of indicator that tells us when it's our turn to vote? Something like My Move!, or change the color of the font to red when it's our groups turn; i.e., 4 hours vs. 4 hours left.

This way I don't have to bring up the game to see if it's my move or not.

My wish list: have player ratings FIDE rated.

At the risk of launching the apples & oranges conversation again, you can't have correspondence ratings merged with otb. Two different animals. Unless you're proposing that OTB players be able to refer to chess books, data bases, and other resources while the clock is ticking.

I don't think top OTB players would stand for it anyway. They've spent many, many years honing their skills only to see the ratings diluted because a correspondence player has a decent set of ECO at home.

I agree with everything you say, but most critically, you can cheat on a website. No matter how well chess.com police engine abuse, I'm pretty sure FIDE would never allow it for that very reason.

Mobile chess request/issue:

1) Be able to review a few previous moves / show what's off the board.  Sometimes (okay, nearly everytime) I'll make blunders due to long games where I've forgotten the strategy I was aiming for and can't review the match.

2) Bug/glitch?  All conditions were valid to allow castling but I wasn't being allowed to make that move.  After getting to a computer I was successful.

A serious request: when viewing the list of tournaments I am participating in, I need to be able to filter out the ones from which I have already been eliminated. I don't care about those any more... I also want to see those tournaments in which I have already been promoted to the next round. That way I can get a feel for how many new games might be on the horizon. Thanks.

Two more suggestions/requests

1. ...

2. The ability to start games with a handicap. That way, I can play games against my friends who are rated lower than I am and the game will still be competitive.

There was a discussion of handicapping options here.

Handicapped games would of course have to be unrated.  I'm surprised that piece odds haven't actually been implemented as an extension of the pre-set starting positions -- perhaps it's for this reason although there is a strong argument for those to be enforced as unrated games as well.

Heh! Nice idea, Thirded. Would save having that "What time is it there?" chat. Although in my case, it would just prompt more "Why are you awake at this hour?" chat...

I also think this would be a cool feature.

This is  probably an idea whose time has not yet come.

I would love to be able to give piece odds in unrated games.

Surely it's easiest, and probably good enough to just use the time in the time zone they've selected for their profile.  If a few people have it set wrong, or dishonestly for whatever strange motivation might spur them to do so, it certainly isn't reason enough to abandon an otherwise good idea.  Is it really necessary that it be 100% accurate 100% of the time?

If you did want it to be more accurate GPS isn't necessary, you can simply grab the time zone that corresponds to their current (or most recent) IP address's location.

Here's an idea I had to try to stem some of the repeated resurrection of common themes in the forums ("Resignation etiquette", "What are member points", "Chess: Sport or game" etc.):

If the idea to implement keyword tags in the forums was implemented as has been recommended a couple of times in previous iterations of this wish-list, it occurred to me that the possibility of "keying in" on these keywords as they were being typed into the new forum topic title entry box could possibly allow for a dynamic recommendation of similar threads (based on their keywords matching words being entered into the title box) in a list below the title box as it was being typed.

I could swear I saw this same functionality on the tech-support submission form on this very site that recommended FAQ entries based on the title of the issue being submitted, but I can no longer locate where this was.

How would it be if chess.com had a Tips Window - (a bit like pop-up ads). This feature could be enabled by default for new members, but could be switched off (or restarted) at any time.

It could offer snippets from the site Help, such as: why using books and DataBases during Turn-Based Chess is not cheating - and these could appear during posting in the Forums, during game play, etc. If they could be made relevant to the current activity, that would be fantastic (but virtually impossible!)

For example,

Did you know? The rules for playing TURN-BASED CHESS on this site...

#1. You many only have ONE Chess.com member account. #2. You may NOT get any help from any person or any chess engine throughout the course of a game, including tablebases. #3. You MAY use books, magazines, or other articles. #4. You may also use computer databases (including Chess.com's Game Explorer). #5. EXCEPTION: If both players agree for the use of a chess engine in an UNRATED game then it can be allowed.

For maximum impact, only ONE of these rules should be displayed at a time.

Titles for better players. You don't have to call them master/grand master if you don't want to, but something along the same lines: if you can get to a certain rating and complete certain tasks (norms), you get a title.

Something along these lines (wizard, master, challenger, competitor, apprentice, learner, novice, beginner) perhaps?

If you are quoted anywhere, then it would be useful if you were alerted, whether or not you were tracking that forum thread.  Or maybe this could be an option in the 'email and alert' settings.

Sorry if I'm putting loads of things down and it looks like I'm just assuming they'll be done!  They're just ideas!

That idea was played around with here.

You already can sort the list of forum topics by "most comments" (or '# of posts') - see item 4 here.

This would work like coloured belts in a karate class... in the west, many grading colours were introduced because it was noticed that people stayed with the classes for longer if they had "mini-rewards" along the path to black belt.

A user might stick around for a little longer if they just needed to get that little bit further to claim a new title. It doesn't especially appeal to me, but a lot of people might enjoy it.

Could the older photo/avatar be displayed on older comments?

It's a bit disconcerting to see comments attributed to

Avatar of Zhane

I have an idea for live chess, how about takeback games because they are used on standard chessboards.
