Hello Chess people!
My name is Jay (Wahturbug), I am a middle aged total noob who was bitten by the chess bug a couple of weeks ago after binge watching Queens Gambit on Netflix. Ive always known the very basics of the game but had never made any effort to learn more than which way the pieces are allowed to move. Two weeks ago I finally lifted up the hood and took a peek inside this came called Chess and holy smokes, what a joy! I couldn't be more excited about the journey that lies ahead. Right now my rank or rating or whatever that number is is hovering around 500 as one might expect, but I have my sights set on 750, then 1000, then 1500 and eventually 2000+!!! (God willing) So thanks for welcoming me to to the world of Chess and to chess.com -- and I look forward to seeing you all in 'The Arena'!!
PS: Any tips on what is the quickest way to make that first jump from 500 to 750 would be welcome and very much appreciated. -- Example: in the game of golf if someone has recently taken up the game and are shooting 110+ and they want know the quickest way to start breaking 90, the tip would be to work on their short game...chipping and putting. Spend a month working on nothing but chipping and putting and you will knock 15-20 strokes i no time flat.
....cuz the whole idea would be to answer it. Esp-ESP if the person is still active !
wouldnt that be hilarious ?!
