sorry, but you cant get a free membership. I also have tried to find a way to get free membership but to no avail. as far as i know there is know way to get it. hope this is what you are looking for.

you will probably need to go on lots of chess channels on youtube and beg for membership. Try mr Beast channel.

There is a long list of membership gifters here. I don't know what their criteria are. They probably want to see that you have potential and will use the membership. So do three tactics puzzles everyday. Play a lot of games. Make your graph ascend without cheating because they can detect that. Your profile is your resume. I'm not sure how to appropriately contact these gifters though. I have seen them contact people on the forums before. Maybe one of them will message you.

If you get a title - NM or above - then you get free diamond membership for life. That might not help you much right now, but it's a nice goal to work towards.

Have you seen the Top Gifter list? It's 936 pages long. I googled it last night to see for myself. The top gifters compete with each other for their place on the list. The top fifty gifters get a special banner on their profile like you get when you pay a premium. It's probably too soon for you to get gifted something now. You'll have to pass their criteria for selection to get them to gift you a membership. Use that list when it's time and start networking. Tell them what you've accomplished and why you think you should be gifted a membership. They'll listen to you if you can get their ear. These are very generous people that want to support talented CDC members. Show them what you got. I suggest you play some rapid because they'll probably want to see those results.

After my first year as a paid member I started getting a lot of cheaters and I was making a lot of reports and complaints and I was gifted a gold membership for the remainder of a month and I didn't realize I had it till after the time was over so I never got to use it
Also, if you find an ad that isn't like appropriate, they give you gold.

Gold is good enough. But they make you question that by having Platinum and Diamond. Diamond is good for the Coach help. As I understand it, you can take any pgn and get it computer annotated with a Diamond membership. So if you're a fan of some chess player you can annotate their games using downloaded pgns from The Week in Chess website. Why wait if you can't wait for a book to be published when you can use a Diamond Membership to get annotations? But if you just want to improve your game, working on the Gold Membership puzzles is effective and more economical. Personally I don't need the latest annotations. I have my chess books and I'm happy.
