Well artfizz I think you might be on to something there. Im on your side...
Its surly not fair!!!
I'm out of toilet paper
It's not fair
That's not good!! Remember the immortal words of Matthew McConaughey: "The 2 things you NEVER want to run out of are toilet paper and condoms."
How come I only get 1 point when I post something? And why does "fair" only get 4 letters when other words get more?
No fair.
Of course it's silly to use a computer when you are trying to improve your game.
I want to be better, not look better. If you're using a computer to enhance your
"look" , it doesn't bother me, especially if your game is "ugly". We all have our days.
it's not fair!
Two players roll an ordinary six-sided dice. Of the two numbers showing, the smaller is subtracted from the larger. If the difference is 0, 1 or 2, player A gets 1 point. If the difference is 3, 4, or 5, player B gets one point. The game ends after 12 rounds. The player with the most points wins the game.
The game: it's fair? Or it's not fair?
It's not fair.
Pawns are pieces too - so you should have been getting 16 pieces. If you haven't been, then unquestionably ...
it's not fair!
Again no way to post a simple table with 20 lines and some comments.
Erick if you need more money to fix this problem just ask for it I will contribute.
On the other hand and in the interim please give us the rules on how to post.
In the last 2 weeks I have spent about 8 hours to do research and post 3 topics to no avail .
This needs your attention.
I want to contribute to the site with what I think is interesting and the community will decide but I cannot!!!
Paul, do you mind if I make a couple of points?
Regarding tables in forum posts: apply your very capable logic to this issue and estimate how much demand there is for tables in the forums. 20 people? 10? 5? As a proportion of chess.com's customer base, it accounts for a tiny fraction of one percent.
Not all problems can be solved by throwing money at them. As we discovered via the Wishlist discussions, business priorities and (lack of) appropriately skilled implementors are greater drivers than mere money. Also, as that discussion highlighted, the funding for chess.com comes best through the normal paid membership route than through any special loan or financing arrangements.
The main advice for using Tables:
1 |
format them using HTML e.g. create a table in Word (using a Table Web style) |
2 |
keep them small in both width and number of rows (maximum 20 rows) |
3 |
Or use fixed width fonts with explicit column spacing |
Last, but not least: your post did not end with "it's not fair!".
Asking people to determine if your game was fair the answer is :NO IT'S NOT FAIR!
Why because in the theory of strategic games a real fair game would have a 51% of chances to win and this is not the case here. The table that I posted shows that when the number is lower from other dice by 0,1 or 2 happens in 67% of the throws, while higher by 3, 4 or 5 than the other dice is 33%.
SO: NO "IT'S NOT FAIR"
That has cleared that up.
When you have posted a comment ending with "IT'S NOT FAIR" and the system throws your ending away!!! then definitely ...
IT'S NOT FAIR!
Let me say that this post is over and close by saying:it's not fair to you.
But it only attracted 3038 views and 113 comments. For a topic of this calibre? It's not fair!
I hate to be the first person in 74 posts to submit something serious about this subject but here goes...
There is "another website" at which players can select [no books or databases allowed] or [books and databases allowed] at the time they post a challenge or start a tournament. Why not make that option available here at chess.com? Of course it would merely be a courtesy since you couldn't prove whether or not a person used a database. But I think it would satisfy those who prefer to not use databases.
A few proposals have been floated to try to achieve this:
The advantage these have is that they don't depend on chess.com implementing anything new. The disadvantages are that they are not automatically updated, the information is not easily accesible and - apart from #4 - they are not on a per game or per tournament basis.
The other point to bear in mind is that Database Use is just one of the indicators that your potential opponent may consider crucial. CHATability, RESIGNability, AFFabilty, DRAWability, SPEEDability... may be equally - or more - important.

I doubt it. That's the way the cookie crumbles at chess.com - it's not fair!
