Because of the lack of contrast, the whole thing looks totally washed out and I find that very irritating. But then again, maybe contrast and definition is over rated and anybody that needs them is a wuss. There is also the fact that I can't find one thing changed for the better.

My favourite colour for text has to be black. Bolder font black titles contrasted with lighter font black for body text. No harm to add some colour in jobs/pages that have a lot going on and you need to add more definition/contrast/segregation, but not a fan of tons of coloured text, especially when you have enough colour with surrounding graphics. I don't think it looks good.. IMO.
For simplistic ultra modern jobs I sometimes wouldn't use any any bold fonts, but just vary the size of text.. one of the nicest jobs I did was for a beauty salon that was all black and white, including photography which had a silver metallic ink solid front cover & back with just the logo on the front.
One thing is for sure, everyone has different taste. :)

However, some of the colouring treatment is unfortunately too much like camouflage concealment, like the post notation numbers in this very page for example, IMHO .

I overall like the new site layout but some things that dissapeared i think are a shame:
what bother me isthat you can only see your own basic statistics. i think this is a serious downgrade! it's not very useful for myself to see my average time/move or my average opponent rating. this is useful for the people i am playing with.
I don't understand why this was changed.
I can see my opponent's birthday but not how many games they played? Which do you think people care most about?

Why is it when we look at GAMES on someone's profile we can see the match titles but when we click on SHOW ALL, all the titles vanish and we see what colour they are playing instead? Why would it change just because showing the rest of the games? It's handy seeing the game titles if you're wanting to see how they are going in certain team matches or if you want to see if someone applying to your group or someone you want to invite to your group plays many team matches or not. On the old site you could see all the match titles when you clicked on SHOW ALL and much prefer it that way.
OK. I've given it a little time, and I've changed my vote to "yes!" for the new site design. I do like the new one better now. But I do want to mention that in the transistion I somehow lost my friend, but we're re-friended again. I'm fairly sure it was a glitch.
I've been a member here for about 4.5 years now and the subtle changes have been fine, change is necessary at times. But, this RADICAL new format is rather confusing at times. If there is an option for your members I would like to go back to the way it was. Just because it's new does not mean that it's better in my opinion. I applaud your efforts but don't force these drastic changes on us like Facebook does, if you are paying you should have an option!

I LOATHE Facebook Timeline and will be kicking and screaming when they force me to adopt it..
The top section looks pretty and that's where the positives end.. then they shove into our faces all the irrelevant stuff we don't need or care to see every time we visit a profile, so scroll scroll, yawn. Then the posts are all over the place, nothing lining up, no streamlining, posts jumping from side to side, one day a post is on this side, next day it's on the other side, hard work tracking particular posts. There's no balance, no surrounding white space.. it's claustrophobic.. cringe city. 
Just covered that the new format looks and seem to works much better in IE9 than IE8. So, upgrading seem to be a good thing to do.

I am looking at my online games. I can see the game/tournament title. However, the tournament I want to go to is not a part of the first 12 games. I click on "Show All Current Games." The game/tournament title is missing. Instead, there is a column for "white/black." "White/black" may mean something to the more advanced players...I am obviously not one. It does mean something to me to see the gane/tournament title.
When the new release first came out, the games were sorted into white/black columns. I very much appreciate that going away. It was tedious finding the specific opponent's name I was looking for.
