that is absolutely brilliant concept, we should have referee similar like football referee, because every now and again russian or other team checking device or looking at the smartphone's screen without anybody know, also in the middle of the game while go to the restroom and checking the screen of smartphone and come back in the middle of the game that would be cheating. yes i would agree with you about referee, i see lots of news about some chess player being cheating at tournament.

it is good idea to have chess referee, to ensure the person took the chess pieces and that person cannot change his or her's mind and using other chess pieces, that person touch the chess pieces should use that say pawn instead of knight. he or she must take pawn not knight. that is the rules.

few times i did play chess club in the past they change their mind and touch another chess pieces which was unacceptable.  but they telling me i'm in the wrong.................sigh.

Also one of the girl at tournament who i play in the past from manchester city staduim, she was wearing topless and she should be wearing dress code not that ahem!  she did change her mind that chess pieces i had to put my hand up asking for staff. nobody came. because all hearing i'm just one deaf person. she would be cheating that game of chess.

it is a good thing for referee to walk up and down to ensure everything is alright and people's touching chess pieces and watch.  if that person didn't know or cheating the referee would instructed him or her to do so.

Hi David, thanks for the comment. Unfortunately the referee issue doesn't seem to be realistic. We must keep on trusting the honesty of our members.

Hi everybody,

I've decided to create this forum, in order to share my desire of having the opportunity to enter my moves writing them up and entering them via the keyboard. I'm convinced this feature is desired by many of us, so if you share our idea and hopefully to convince our kind site manager to fix something for us, i invite you all to express yourself here.

Hi David, you can learn chess algebraic notation reading this:

Hi Natasha, did you intent to write down a comment by the way?

Actually this could be really nice, particularly for people who may have disabilities. My father-in-law had a stroke and has lost a lot of mobility with his mouse hand. If he could use his left-hand to type moves it would be great. A new use case for programmers!

Thanks Jonathan, i'm sure our website designers will be interested by the challenge

I'd like this feature too. I've recently been trying blindfold chess (which you can do on chess.com by choosing blindfold pieces but still need to make the moves.)

Meantime you can play blindfold on arena by typing in the moves and then moving the window to hide the board whilst still seeing the movelist.

Hi Dave, we also gotta to consider the educational side of the issue, think about the abilities one can adquire after practicing writing moves like that, ...pure improvement

Actually we are doing something similar in one of my groups, its called an annotation tournament, no chess display, just annatations

MACRINUS

Can you explain how it works Ian?

superdrewe53

I'm not entirely sure at the moment, what I do know is that it involves downloading chesspad or something similar and the format is one open round, one swiss round and one round robin round, the tournament is to be judged on a series of master games by an IM, that's as much as I know at this time, I will continue to update you as more information comes in

MACRINUS

Very kind of you Ian.

Definitely feel you and same here now. At this rate though looks like I'd be off better before it's implemented (( - when my tendon injury heals in 2+ years if at all. It's rather frustrating to limit myself to ~10 moves/day in all online games and max 4-5 sidemoves per 1 postgame analysis.
