The Forum Police

Since this is a chess website there are a limited number of things to discuss in the forums. Some come up a lot:

To resign or not to resign

I've been cheated!

Use of vacation time

Every time these threads come up, there are a group of people who post comments like:

Stop whinging!

Get a life!

People are dying! Get things in perspective!

Is there a secret chess.com group called "The Forum Police"?

Is there a special digital handshake to recognise other members by?

Do you get a badge?

I would do, but I'm worried that the real Forum Police would hunt me down and subject me to withering sarcasm to within an inch of my life.

jonnyjupiter

If I did, I'd make sure that csharpe gets one of the black helicopters. You can be our 'Howling Mad' Murdoch!

I"m with you, Smither.   I am a little curious though, as to what type of people think that there are two letter G in the word  "whining"??   could it be that there are that many who are ignorant of spelling rules ???

Duffer1965

Apparently someone thinks there are not too many posts claiming: (1) "my opponent cheated -- only Fritz 11 would have been able to spot my numerous blunders and inaccuracies"; (2) "my opponent is the lowest form of life on Earth for playing on one move longer than I -- measure of all things -- deemed him entitled to play"; and (3) "I've peed my pants yet again waiting impatiently by my computer for my opponent to get back from vacation".

They all seem to be the result of excess ego and immaturity. But I'm biased and unwilling to give them a fair shake.

Hey  Artfizz: Over a 150,000 people play chess every day and some of them die

From the online dictionary:

whinge (hwnj, wnj)

intr.v. whinged, whing·ing, whing·es Chiefly British
To complain or protest, especially in an annoying or persistent manner.

whine (hwn, wn)
v. whined, whin·ing, whines
v.intr.
1. To utter a plaintive, high-pitched, protracted sound, as in pain, fear, supplication, or complaint.
2. To complain or protest in a childish fashion.

So one can both whinge and whine, in which case one is said to be whinging and whining. The Forum Police make no distinction between the two and will come down with equal force and most bitter irony on those found guilty of whinging and/or whining.
Karricus

Actually 'whinging' is a Vernacular word, often used in Ireland and England. Here's a definition: http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=whinge

That would account for them MOVING  S O     S   L    O    W     L      Y           but, at least, they can't cheat (death). They neither whinge nor whine - if only they could get a life?
