Pretty much only for the Tactics Trainer and Tournaments.
What would it take to finally push you over the edge?

Before reading part of this thread, I thought about becoming a member. After reading it, I am seriously thinking about becoming one. Mostly for game explorer and tactics. I've never played in a tournament, but I would love to do so.
Oh eric, were you hinting that you'll take bribes...lol
i brought one so i could direct tournaments and play in them, and so i could play more tournaments,if i could afford it i would upgrade again so i could do more with the tournaments

well, chess.com sent some guys over and well...
/cries
Artfizz, Are you sure THIS isn't the reason Erik has "a small trusty band of staff surrounding him?"
i don't know anything about "gum" memberships, or gym membership numbers, but i will reveal this statistic: 91% of the premium members on this site are active. some others are on vacation. some have not come back and we will happily provide them refunds on their auto-renewal.
i'm done debating this topic. clearly people enjoy the site and are paying for it. it's rediculous for you to be painting this as anything other than what it is.
i agree erik has to earn a living and pay for the site running and they do a good job ;)

Unless ... like Sherlock Holmes, I only faked going over the edge.
erogenous grammar - now THAT was funny :)
(for those who don't know:
Exactly!!! You knew what I meant but yet you decided to ridicule me...
Given, I made it easy....
But, still it says a lot about you...
Maybe Stanford does, after all lagg some educational skills hey???

If I was in a position to upgrade my membership I would in a second. I'd love to start my own group, track my stats lifetime, mote tac trainer, but most of all, play in more than 1 tourny at a time. I'm glad for what I can do for free, but I want it all. For me, when I can upgrade, I will!!!!!

when I hit 1200 in blitz i will be buying a silver membership, 1400 gold (if i hit 1400) and 1600 platinum (this will probably never happen)
i can easily arrange that
So, are you saying I can buy a rating?? Sign me up!! umm 2150 would be good....
really want to join but, shamefully given my age, do not have a credit card. usually pay by money order (i.e. bank cheque). if chess.com would accept payment by such means, i would join immediately (i note as of this week all australian banks are fully guaranteed by the state, should that sweeten the deal). otherwise, i really do intend to apply for a credit card soon (not that i want credit, but increasingly it is the only means offered to buy anything - i bought a mobile when they put a vending machine by me that won't take cash, u put in your choice of beverage, then call the number on the machine and the cost of the drink is added to your next phone bill).

Joly, I have sent you a message letting you know what you can do to send in a check! Please check your inbox.

For me, the key factor has been the community: I believe a chess site is only as good as the people using it. People here are just great, and playing with them (you) is just a pleasure.
On top of this, of course, the site is offering so many nice features that you just can’t avoid loving it.
These two things put together, plus the fact that I believe good work needs to be rewarded, turned me into buying a membership.
It was definately the tactics trainer that made me want to upgrade my membership. The two hours of Chess mentor is a nice addition (that I have yet to touch...).
