I recently saw the movie 'Searching for Sugarman' It is a must see. What a brilliant person and his daughters too.

We grew up with his music .When he sang about 'jumpers ,coke, sweet Mary-Jane' everybody would sing along ,thinking he was refering to sweaters,Coca-cola and his niece.  My wife and I are seeing him perform live in February CoolCoolCool!!!!

I can sympathize with that. I always get lyrics wrong. When the group TLC made the song "The girls are talking" (After left eye died), I always thought they were saying that, even though left eye was dead, the girls were still talking (in some smarmy way). The video certainly helped with this impression.

Then, I read the lyrics...http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/tlc/girltalk.html

Oops. My bad.

He Flygirl, should you not be watching in front of you?  Before you know it we will all crash into another world, where we are all famous Laughing

Cold Fact was the musical accompaniement to my Australian adolescence... Its good to see the rest of the word has caught up to Australia and South Africa.

Actually, best ignore that last sentence.

rooperi

Searching for Sugarman won the best documentary Oscar :)

Iknownotwhy

I had the great privilege of seeing him live at last. What a show,I am not sure he will do much more touring after this one though. What a great person.I am so glad he is getting the recognition he deserves even if it is so late in coming to him.

Oops. My bad.

There is a doctorate just waiting to be written on 'getting the lyrics wrong'.
Australians -and some lucky others- would know the Cold Chisel song Cheap Wine.  The chorus includes the line "Cheap wine and a three day growth": for years I thought it was "Cheap wine and a three day book".
Which reveals as much about my 'under-the-doona-depression-tactics' as it does my lousy listening-skills.

And while I'm into self-deprecation... until I was maybe 16, I thought Superman's girlfriend's name was pronounced Loice (as in 'choice') Lane.

I bet Rodriguez was never such a dag.
