I see you have note"Free Pawn"when he offered the gambit. I advise you know every variation of the Q Gambit before you take the Gambit pawn.
1300-1400 game analysis
I like your comment on move 20. "most of these moves are very illogical with now real reason behind them." That's pretty true for the whole game. I'm suprised with a 1400 live chess rating you don't know about the Queens Gambit and the fact that it's not really a gambit at all.
A lot of empty threats were played by both sides and the responses to those threats were often incorrect. I think some time with the tactics trainer may help, also on move 14. taking the pawn seems logical, as does castling. The bishop doesn''t need the king because it is protected by the knight, and connecting your rooks seems like it would help here.
I think 7... e5? looks too ambitious in this particular position. White is better developped (since black lost a tempo with 2... dxc4) and f7 is weak. Better would be the more restrained 7... e6. Instead of 7. Bxc4 also 7. d5!? looks promissing for white.
2... dxc4 is a perfectly possible move as far as it's not played with the idea to win a pawn. After 3. Nc3 (and only after 3. Nc3; not after say 3. Nf3/e3/e4 !) one promissing continuation is 3... a6!? with the idea 4. e4 b5 5. a4 b4! 6. Na2 Bb7 7. Nxb4 e6 etc. or 4. a4 Nc6! 5. d5?! Na5! or 4. e3 Nf6 5. Bxc4 b5 with Bb7+e6+Nd7+c5 to follow (this last continuation in particular demonstrates how black doesn't really care if white captures c4 but instead goes ahead with his own development).
i would be very much of obliged if someone out there with more experience/skill than me would take a look at this game i played and tell me where i went wrong and how i should improve
thank you.
rating supposed to be 1200 but i am 1391 currently.
