Hey guys

I had a game with random opponent:-https://www.chess.com/game/live/6546936445

I was shocked seeing my accuracy 95.2

Is my rating good according to me as I have blitz rating of 1000 what rapid rating should I have (At present it's 1000)

nothing wrong with that! I have gotten 98+ accuracy games and i'm just around 450 points higher rated than you!

Accuracy (CAPS) is not understood by most players - to be fair it sounds a little misleading. The untrained ear hears 95% accuracy and thinks they found the "best move" 95% of the time and that 95% is super high, so that might be like GM-level.

Understandable thinking and not too far off, but not entirely correct either.

In this example, 95% accuracy would mean that your moves matched the engine recommended move 95% of the time. This sounds really strong (and it is), but this doesn't take other important factors into account. For instance: how easy to find the moves were, opponent play-style since tactical versus positional gives different ranges for "best moves" and also doesn't take into account things like if the move was well known opening theory or not; I can easily play GM-level moves I simply copied out of memory from a GM playing them xD Similarly, let us assume your opponent hangs their Queen super early in the game and you take it. Now you are +9 points, so basically anything you play is winning (so it is easy to get a high percent in accuracy that game).

IM @DanielRensch describes accuracy (CAPS) really well, so here is his explanation happy.png
