Hi, I am first time doing these stuff. Rc8+, Kb7, bxb3, then now the black has no way to win and white just do rook checkmate and if have chance the take that bishop.
Kxc8?
Well didn’t see that... probably rd8

13th Official Puzzle; I find this one to be challenging, but it is a good one. Give it some time and see how everyone does White to move and win.
Aronian chess study
To win white needs to capture atleast one of black's bishops while keeping his own. This makes Bf3+ the only logical first move.
1.Bf3+ Kb8?? 2.Rb2 and white wins
After 1...Ka7 is what I'm calculating
You mean Kb8 and Rb2 right pinning the bishop? Ra2?? Opponent captures the rook
Exactly. Thanks for the correction.
After Ka7 and Rc7+ only move is Ka6 since the bishop is cutting the king and is defending the b7 square so rook b7 check is a skewer
After Ka7 and Rc7+ only move is Ka6 since the bishop is cutting the king and is defending the b7 square so rook b7 check is a skewer
Well how do you get Rc7+, maybe my brain is slow ( because it is ), but if you are following magneto616 then the rook is already on b2 and it can’t go on c7

No that was just a line to show how Kb8 dosen't work.
Bf3+ is forced; Ka7 is forced (Kb8; Rb2-Rxb3) and now we have to find the good continuation amoung :
A) Rc7+ ; B) Rc8; C) Rc3.
A) Rc7+; Ka6! ; Rc8; Bg7; Ra8+; Kb5; Rb8+; Kc4 defends.
B) Rc8; Bd6!; Ra8+; Kb6 and the b8 square is guarded.
C) Rc3; and now Ba2 (Bg8; Rc8 fork or Bf7; Rc7+ fork) ; Rc8! ; Bf8 move then Ra8+ then Rxa2.
So the main line is 1.Bf3+; Ka7 2.Rc3; Be6! and now it's not clear.
I think it can be a mix of @kjDG12's ideas.
For example, I looked at 1.Bf3 Ka7 2.Rc7+ Ka6 3.Rc3 , which black seems to hold only with 3...Ba4!.
I couldnt look for all ideas around that yet, and havent found the winning idea yet but in my opinion there's a good chance solution comes from there.

Glad to have new members try these puzzles
Admittingly, most of these are tough ones - but they are all quality for practice. Don't forget to try the earlier puzzles too. You can message me your moves and I'll let you know the solutions if you want; I actually have a few chess.com members doing the previous puzzles and messaging me. ![]()

Fine up to this point. After a little search, you will see that (1.Bf3+; Ka7 2.Rc3; Be6!) the only useful move is 3.Rc6;
The bishop is forced to return to b3, and now, just notice that with Black to play, he has no good moves available!

Yes, you guys are so close ![]()
@prfen Yeah Rc6 only useful move to keep the initiative. Then Bb3 only move so:
1.Bf3+; Ka7 2.Rc3; Be6 3.Rc6!; Bb3 then it's zugzang from blacks' play ? Let's say we don't touch anything with 4.Kh1 a safe square with no check then it's almost zugzang but there is still 4.Bb4.

After 5.Rc1(threatening Rb1) I dint think the bishops can escape all the forks, pins and skewers.
I think the position IM pfren mentioned is the one after 1.Bf3+ Ka7 2.Rc3 Be6.
Rest, is still complex. I looked 3.Kh1 Bh3 but couldn't see more.
Magneto616 pointed 2.Rc1 (same position with 5.Rc1 they pointed). Wsb cant move but isnt sth like Bd6/Bh6/Ka6 possible?
