Dragon Sicillian

So, I "won" this game, or I think I would have barring my horrendous mistake at the end.

I've played the Dragon Sicillian for about 2 weeks now, and I consider this my best game by far.

Commenting on my moves and mistakes would be nice.

I forgot to flip the board, sorry

Thanks all in advance

In move 34, why do you place the pawn one forward? By placing the king to g7 you would have defended f6 twice by making the rook participate. You'd also have safed your horse for it can be defended with f6 again.

White missed winning material on move twelve with e4-45

Good point...at the time, I was thinking I should block out that bishop

Correct is 4. ... Nf6 to force 5 Nc3. With your move order White can play 5. c4 and you no longer are playing a dragon. White's h3 was not needed it helped giving you a better position. You missed winning the hanging Knight with 8... Nxd4.

On 28. Qe3 you wrote "I'm not sure why he doesn't play f4 to win a Knight."

Because 28. f4 should have resulted in:

28 ... Nf3+

29 g2xN Nf3+

And you win a queen.  Best as I can tell, if he had moved to f4 the best outcome for White would have been to capture both Knights but still lose the Queen.

The most bizarre thing about this is that Black himself said he was threatening a knight fork on the previous move.

It's as if two different people were speaking out of the same mouth.  I hope Raj_Maj was smoking lots of cannibis in order to write that.Laughing

As said by mnag I make 8. 0-0 a mistake, should have been 8. Nxd4 gaining tempo on the Queen

Well, I moved into the position twice after realizing it the first time, so are you surprised my commentary matches my game thoughts and actions? ;)

I don't see this, can you elaborate?

After e5, the knight on f6 is attacked by the pawn and the queen now attacks the undefended c6 knight.

12. e5 (threatens exf6) dxe5 13. Qxc6 and he is up a minor piece.

edit: killabeez beat me to the punch. Tongue out

I believe one of the most important things when playing black is to try to have a shallow developing move that attacks a minor piece for white.  The Dragon is a variation that I have not played against much yet, but I would be very interested in playing you a weekly game since I am currently studying how to play against the Sicilian as White E4.

Please message me if you would be interested in pursuing that study, Raj.

All the best,

Ish

isnt 45. Bd1, Kg5 46. Rg4 mate?

I'm not very good but you played a fantstically aggressive defense, good sir.

Avatar of funkade

you missed a free piece on move 9, instead of Nb4, Ne5 wins the white light bishop
