Ok so i see you captured on c6 with the bishop in the beginning, planning to recapture e5 pawn. Now this move this capture that you played is rarely played and not considered that great of a move yet I dont know why.

5.Nxe5 is a questionable move(even though you opponent doesnt notice the mistake) After 5...Qd4 6.Nf4 Qxe4 7.Qe2 Bf5 8.Qxe4 Bxe4 9.d3 Bxf3 10.gxf3 Nd5 black has an advantage that he can work with. Not that your move is game ending it just lets black get the advantage really early in the game.

On move 10.Nf3 you question its validity. I mean like the move i mentioned above its not that great of a move in that it wastes a tempo, and takes the knight away from a superior square. There was no need to attack the center especialy since you were th only one that occupied it.

you did good on move 11. but for black moving his knight there was a mistake it allowed you to relieve that pressure and moved his pawn even futher away from the center, losing control of the d5 squarbut then again that square wasnt that important.

12.c3 no need to defend your d-pawn. It was not in any immediate danger so its kind of a wasted move that serves no real purpose but once again not a glaring error.

14.b3 an ok move but d5 was superior it kicks the bishop away wasting a tempo(though not as importaint this far in the game) It just makes the move your opponent played wasted, while you gain more space.

15.a4 I used to forget about en passent too but in your case it wasnt a bad choice and having black capture was benificial since it opened a file for you.

on move twenty you comment saying that moving your queen would allow black to capture your knight ruining your pawns, you failed to see that your rook had it covered. Even Qd3 would increase the scope of the queen while still defending the knight.

Now you wanted to kick the bishop with h3, but you also wanted to break the pin so that would require a follow up with g4 which really hurts your kingside structure, but then again black is in no position to really take advantage of this so its not a bad choice, black should just have captured your knight. But there s a better alternative to h3 This is Re7 claiming the 7 th rank that your opponents previous queen moved just freed  up ofr your rook.

Exchanging queens wasnt that great of an idea, It kinda of equaled the position out You are trying for kingside play after domination of the center and for kingside play it is usually best to keep the queens on the board and anyways having this one more attacker can scare the opponent into a mistake.

25. h4?? is a really poor move and lost you the game

move 29. needs no comment

Otherwise you played pretty good game against an opponent that was rated a couple hundred points higher than you good job!

There are a few inconsistencies in the opening.

4. O-O is the most common continuation. Then follows: 4...a6 5. Ba4 Nxe4 6. Re1 Nd6 7. Bxc6 dxc6 8.Nxe5 with an equal position.

Or, you could play 4. Nc3 going into the four knights variation.

6. Qe2 is much better and would pin that knight there. If the knight were to move you play 7. Nxc6!! winning the queen as the knight would reveal a discovered check on the King. Black would usually play after 6. Qe2, 6...f5 defending the knight.

10. Bf4 might have been slightly better. Moving the knight is wasting a tempi when you could have developed a piece and then connect the rooks. The game might have continued 10...Re8 then 11. Nf3 might have been a better continuation.

I would have played 11. Ne2 giving the pawn an extra defender. It is obvious that your opponent it likely to capture that knight so playing Be3 is pointless and it also would ruin your queenside pawn structure after 12. bxc3.

13. c4?. You should have left it there because black can play 13... c5 and your initiative is gone.

21. g4? You pushed your pawns too far and now your kingside is too vulnerable. 21. Qd3 could be a better move as it gets out of the knight pin and also still protects the knight and d pawn.

22. Qb3?! No queen trade yet. Too early and you need your queen. 22. Re3 might be a better move as it improves your position slightly and defends that knight. If the queen trade did take place and your rook ended up on b3, black could play f6, making way for that bishop and ready to bring the other rook into play while also getting an extra defender.

25. Rd1 might have been better but my first thought was Ng5, then re-routing it to e4.
