Actually most of my losses were due to blunders rather than strategic positions, so I could actually figure out myself what went wrong.  No, actually I wanted to discuss that Knight sac, opening the file for my Rook, if it was really a blunder in that sense, and if I got lucky that my opponet did not play stronger, and how should have played.. after all we learn more from losses than wins, so parties I won, I can not figure out better lines, tactics, and motives which could in fact lost me the game that easy.

But good to know there are so many knows-it-all about my personality. It is called the internet

Losses arent just the result of simply blunder. Almost human who plays chess below super GM level are constantly making strategic concessions and mistakes in many of their games and slowly leads to losses. And even the best like Magnus will make strategical mistakes once in a while. Strategical errors lead to tactical opportunities for your opponent and weakness in your position. People who only think they lose because of blunders are overestimating their own understanding and ability.

Hi David, that was an entertaining game, but wouldn't you rather show a game that you lost? I'm not sure why so many people in this thread are posting games that they won

Ok, I will only post lost games from now on... even though I think there are lessons to be learned from won games too, as I think - taking from this game - things would've done very differently if my opponent would've played 17. Nxc6 instead of dxc6.

By the way, a new Game Analysis video is posted! It's up on the ChessPathways youtube channel and I'll get it added to the ChessPathways site soon happy.png

Mine was a draw. I didn't know whether or not to post a won game or lost game, so I thought a draw would be best.

I'll try and find a lost game, because that might be more helpful.

I tried to search for it and am not sure what you're talking about.

This thread is for game analysis, please!

I take it that the game I submitted (in post #15 of this thread) is a bit too up-scale for what you had in mind?

That Knight sac was a solid move!  I would have never tried that.  I wouldn't have even considered that his Knight move would kill the bishop after Qe7.  I guess it goes to show I don't often look at my opponent's resources and just try out my own ideas without considering my opponents.  Most of the time in daily I just make moves and don't use the analysis board. LOL.  That is part of my problem.

I guess I should have posted a game with longer time control.  Oh well, maybe you can show me something about my play even so.

Do you also analyse 960 games? Do you analyse standard games played against computer?

I would prefer to analyze standard, long-time-control games against humans, but I mean I'd at least take a look!

Really impressed with your videos.  Yes the first was small, but enjoyed your analysis anyway.  I like how you show some positions can be saved and your honesty in analysis.  The advice you give is very good for players from Expert down.  Only saw five videos but plan to look at all of them, because I like the way, including the tone, you explain your analysis.  Hearing the thoughts of the players really tunes me in to why they played their moves. Thanks.

Awesome! I'm really glad you like the content. If you haven't already, make sure you sign up on chesspathways.com - I'll be happy to keep in touch!

@BlakeyBChess : I watched all the videos posted on your website, and I enjoyed them. But I notice that you haven't done any more analysis videos since June. Do you plan to do more?

I have a suggestion/criticism: For the "Blitz battles" videos, it would help immensely in educative value if you played with incremental time controls, so that all the games don't simply end up being a time scramble. You would be able to communicate your thoughts more. 3+2 or better still, 5+5 would be ideal. This is of course, assuming that you intend those videos to be instructive to lower rated players, and not simply for entertainment purposes.

I hope you do more of the game analysis series. They can be quite beneficial for beginners and intermediates. You'd be surprised how much little things that strong players take for granted can improve a weak player's game. For instance, in one of the videos you explained that exchanging two minor pieces for a rook and a pawn is generally not a good trade. I only realized that quite recently, and since then I have stopped doing that - and learnt to punish opponents who do that against me.

im interested.
