Interesting Game - and rating complaint!

So this is a game that I played (1230) against a much higher rated opponent (1369), I managed to draw and only got 6 points for it! Which is kind of disappointing.. Either way, I'd like to share it with you and get some opinions. It is rather long-- 76 moves I think so feel free to speed through the endgame a bit. Without further adieu, the game! Please comment, all analysis and opinions are greatly appreciated. Even if you agree with my annotations please say so, it's good to know that I can at least analyze my games successfully.

Even if you think you may get away with a trap never play it. Assume your opponent is going to make the best move. If you're playing someone at or a higher rating than you they should be able to see the same tactics you can. If you are playing are weaker player don't underestimate them, if you prssure someone with a trap they will be more resource than their rating might suggest and the trap could soon compromise your own position. Besides, if a trap isn't a forced continuation it seems like a hollow win(especially getting up a piece early in the game).

Thanks for the advice. In this case I completely missed the fact that his queen could take so I thought it was a forced free piece for me; usually I don't play a trap unless all continuations are good, this was just a ridiculous oversight on my part :p

I love 4... Nxe4! personally, instead.

Then I just lose a knight for a pawn.. Or am I missing some brilliant pin here.

I don't think 34. f3 is the 'best move of the game', instead he could have won easily with Rxa8, followed by Rxe4 and he's a comfortable 2 pawns up and should win out.  Note that his king is safe from a simple back rank mate.  34. Rxa8 Rxa8 35. Rxe4 Ra1+ 36. Kh2 is fine for white, still 2 pawns up.

The plan is thus: 4...Nxe4 5. Nxe4 d5! 6. Bxd5 Qxd5; you have a bishop for a knight.  This imbalance is something you can later take advantage of as you can steer the position to favor the bishop pair.

14...Qb6 would be a better try at this trap idea. then if white played 15. Be3? or 15.c3...Nxb3! which is good for u. If white played 15.0-0!...a5! threatening to trap the bishop with 16...a4.  Nice game over all!

i might come back tom and analyse more if u like....Cool

Right, and if this line is taken, the imbalance can be a big key for later on in the game.

Of course, slighty better is 4... Nxe4!, 5. Nxe4 d5, - and now - 6. Bd3 dxe4, 7. Bxe4 Bd6 where both sides keep the bishop pairs.  However, since black basically equalizes - sometimes even doing slightly better than that, too - out of the opening, you won't find many good players taking this line as white.
