Also, hikaru doesn't play the modern defense, he plays the caro-kann Gurgenidze system. He just starts the game with 1...g6 and transposes. For example...
Post your games here :)

Just play normally and you will win easily against Martin.
Yes, this is completely true. I will show a game where I only followed basic principles and did nothing fancy against martin and won. If you just follow principles you will easily beat him.
Notice that I show in every single of my annotations that I followed basic principles all game long. This should give hope to people trying to defeat martin. follow your basic principles and you will win.

Probably my best comeback-victory game, this one

I would not say that this is your best game. Your opponent handed the game over to you for free. 1.g4 is a horrible move and he randomely gave you pieces while shuffling his rook. Good job finding all those free pieces though.
That g6 is known as king's fiancetto opening or Modern Defense.Hikaru frequently uses this opening. It has a very solid principal behind it and it's a opening similar to King's Indian Defense.Try it out if you want.Though trying it out without learning this opening properly will cause you a horrible defeat.g4 was played by white and I'm the black here. And I think it's my best game because it was unlikely for me to win this game but I turned the table.
I know that you were black and I was saying that for white to play 1.g4 it is very bad. I was not saying that 1...g6 is a horrible move. I also don't think that it was unlikely for you to win that game. You were basically wining from the very first move, you didn't turn any tables, you just converted an advantage by taking free pieces. You only hung 1 piece while your opponent hung many.
Bro, I had made two blunders in this game, with two blunders I don't think I could win. That's why I said that. But my phrasing probably wasn't appropriate cause I'm not a native english speaker so please forgive me for that.

I heard in a subreddit that hikaru plays modern defense frequently.I should have double checked that.My bad.

Your all good, And for hikaru playing modern, I could see some people saying that, he does start out with the modern.

How could I improve and understand what moves to do better? https://www.chess.com/live/game/140243388606 this game was good but I feel like I can try and improve.

While I can't give you an exact number of all those moves I can tell you that you have many mistakes you need to fix. First of all before every move pay attention to the board. This helps prevent a lot of those silly blunders like you did on the 5th move. Try looking ahead a couple moves as well. For ex: on the 11th move you had something much better than taking the knight with your bishop. If you took with the knight on the other hand he wouldn't be able to take back otherwise there would be a fork between the queen and rook(kxf6 xf6 bxf6 and that's a fork). You also need to be able to spot your opponents blunders faster. As soon as he moved his dark squared bishop out of the way you could've immediately taken his knight. You were lucky he didn't even realize that and you took it the next move. Basically just focus on fixing and spotting blunders better by double checking the board before every move and looking forward a couple moves rather than just 1 move ahead.

It was a good game.
Really good game! You played amazing and I didn't see any obvious mistakes. I see you played 4.Nd2, I don't know if that's theory or not but maybe you might want to try out 4.Bg5 as another option. 4.Nd2 is a good move though. One thing to note when playing Nd2/Nd7 in the modern though, is that f2/f7 becomes weak, for example here is a famous trap when black plays Nd7 in the modern.
This opening trap can work against the white pieces as well. Just something to be aware of, great game!

I'm aware of this trap, that's why when they play c4, I play h6.That way they can't place their knight in the right place to execute the trap.I used to fall for it when I started playing modern but now I probably played atleast 60 or 70 games with it.
