How many squares does your bishop control on b3, compared to c2?
Ruy Lopez. Bc2 ot Bb3?

Your position is so good because of your nice center with an e5 pawn combined with your ownership of the b1-h7 diagonal. You have an attack brewing against Black's kingside, so point your bishop there, not at an easily defended pawn.
Thanks urk, makes sense.
d5 is easily defended by all Black's pieces. The advanced e pawn shouts "kingside attack"
After Bc2 do you think a Bh7+ sacrifice would work? I'd guess not immediately because the other pieces need some developing, and the Black K might escape through the gap on e7. Anyway it's a plan, and the pieces are developed nicely for other attacks possibilites?!

Mal, Have a quick look at these for the "Greek Gift" ( Bxh7+ )

1. Bxh7+ Kh8 2. Ng5 Ncxe5 3. dxe5 Bxh1 4. Qh5 Bxg5 5. hxg5 Bf3 6. Ng4
1. Bxh7+ Kxh7 2. Ng5+ Kg8 3. Qh5 Bxg5 4. hxg5
The position is from Sunday's Daily Puzzle where the game play is given as ... Kxh7 as such all the posters were putting easy!! It took me a good 20 minutes staring at the board to find the solution to Greek declined.
In your game it does not quite work because black has ... Nf8 and white does not have Ng5
Here's a Ruy Lopez game, with one inaccuracy by White: 14. Bb3. There's a good threat there, I thought, and it worked out. So why does the computer say Bb2? I may be missing an obvious tactic . In general I'm always uncertain as to whether to move Bb3 or Bb2. Is it Bb2 here because h7 isn't as well protected as usual (no N on f6)?
