Sicilian Defense Pin Variation gone wrong

Hi guys! So recently I played a game as black and I was wiped out near the end of the opening-early middlegame.

I hope I provided enough analysis to receive ample feedback!

Despite the quick and somewhat disastrous outcome, a very enlightening article! The notes were interesting and very honest and objective. Keep up the good work.

thanks! cost me 25 pts in standard to learn this lesson lol

You're actually in big trouble after 10...d6? 11.exd6 Bxd6 as well; 12.Bb5+ would have really screwed you up.

You're playing with fire in this variation; better know your stuff very, very well! There are lines which more or less require Black to sacrifice the exchange questionably on f8.

yeah I know that was a typo because I had Bb5 in another line. thanks for spotting it! now fixed

And yeah I try to avoid those lines by not castling kingside. but getting the king to the q-side is a big task!

Especially since your structure more or less totally forsakes the development of your Bc8.  I've looked into this variation in the past; nowadays I go for the more conservative Taimanov when I play 2..e6.  But the Pin can be good fun! I just wish it had a better name :)

@Greencastleblock I played the Kan a lot before trying the Pin Variation out! You can say I'm really lax with my development in Sicilians as Black Cool

And to say that a line is refuted when it is a top choice from Stockfish is saying something.
