How do you guys study GM chess games? because as a beginner I have no idea where to start

Take one side. Cover the moves. What moves do you consider? What would you play? What did the grandmaster play? Did you consider that move? If no, why not? Would you have played that move? If no, why not? Why is the grandmaster move better?
On to the next move.
