Sweet!
The Eternal Harry Potter game with the Checkmate!
I'm not sure if you saw this website or not, but if you didn't it might interest you: http://www.jeremysilman.com/movies_tv_js/harry_potter.html
The opening was the Scandinavian Defense. I don't think the game was actually created; just the opening and end position. Perhaps someone can come up with a possible game.

that's where i got it from.

One of them wasn't the king because they just filled up the empty squares on the board, which happened to be a knight, bishop, and rook

Oh gotcha. It has been a really long time since I saw the movie, I just remember Ron saying for me, I'll be a knight. I thought he chose what piece each person was.

Who is Harry Potter??
come on man I read the 7 parts u should read them or even see the movies.....
Empty a8, f8, g8: (the chessboard is actually slightly messed up, . Hermione's technically on h8 and Ron on b8) movie
Ron chooses: book (presumably still those 3, unless he chose b8, c8, and/or h8- they were definitely the same TYPES of pieces, but as there are duplicates there's only a 12.5% chance of it being that exactly)
I've always wondered what the game from the Sorceror's Stone actually looked like. I was unable find the opening, but I do have the position while it ended. Here's how it looked like towards the end. It's a nice little puzzle, if you want to look at it that way:
