Thank you Thaddues, I did analyze that, and i decided not to do that, because white has some strong moves after that i think. I just liked my position because i knew that i'd be up after both moves. Thanks for pointing that out though!

Educational. I'm going to have to play Bc5 against the Italian. Nf6 gets me into trouble fast.

In a lot of my games, there are pawn storms against opposite castles. Knowing how to launch them and how to stop slow them is important.

What problem do you have with Nf6? I've recently taken the 2 Knights defense as my response to the Italian, and I haven't found any problem.

3. ... Nf6 4. Ng5 (knight no longer can guard f7) ...d5 5. exd5 Na5 6. Bb5 c6 7. dxc6 bxc6 and I don't like Black's position. The computer I play against always plays 3. ... Bc5. (4. Ng5 Nh6). I'll do some position set ups and see what it does.

I set up two knights defense to the Italian defense, forcing Nf6. The computer did something I did not expect, as usual. MCO is not complete, it seems. ECO is probably better.

 4.Nf3-g5   d7-d5
 5.e4xd5    Nf6xd5
 6.Ng5xf7   Ke8xf7
7.Qd1-f3+  Kf7-e6   (this move got me. computer is Black)
 8.Nb1-c3   Nc6-b4
9.Ke1-g1   c7-c6

10.Bc4xd5+  c6xd5
 11.Qf3-g4+  Ke6-f7
 12.Qg4-f3+  Kf7-g8
13.d2-d3    Nb4xc2
14.Ra1-b1   Nc2-d4
15.Qf3xd5+  Qd8xd5
16.Nc3xd5   Bc8-f5
15.Rf1-e1   Bf5xd3
16.Rb1-a1   Nd4-c2
17.Bc1-g5   Nc2xa1
18.Re1xa1   Ra8-c8

I try to predict the computer's moves, anticipating how it will wreck my position next. I only guess correctly half the time, if that. It always gets me worse, or it appears to go after the wrong path, but then out of know were gets me worse.

@Davoman

19. Be7
24. Rb1 wins the b pawn. If Rb8, a3.
28. Bd6 looks interesting, followed by c5 and d5.

I would have made many blunders in that game, like not guarding the Bishop on c4 from the queen, or capturing the f7 pawn with my knight and not realizing just how dangerous the f2 threat was. But I would not have made some of the other blunders.

thanks for this forum whoever created it

The main mistake by White that jumps out at me was Bxd4. In a fiancheto, you do not want to trade the bishop unless you have to. It is supposed to just be a guard that controls the center from a far, or captures and darts back. Once that bishop was gone, your queen had no trouble going to a1.

I thought I played very poorly, especially at the end, the game transformed into something way above both of our levels, it's basically a high level game with two noobs blundering it up. after about the 32 move mark I should have won much more easily, I ended up taking a much safer and slower route, which was unnecessary. for all those reasons, I think it's pretty interesting, especially if you can trace out some of what my late-game attacks should have been.

Now these are the games I should probably be learning from.

If you like crazy games, the Traxler Counter (4...Bc5) works fine for me.

And yes, Ke6 it's black's best move according to theory. Black can defend from white's attack, but will have to be VERY careful.

Even though the Ng5 line is proven not to be advantageous for White, many Black players don't know the d5 refutation.

This is a very short game (won in 11 moves). Blackmard Diemer Gambit...

Here's another one. I know that them losing their queen makes it less exciting, but the checkmate was sooooo sweet. Check it out!
