How did I play? Was he just a bad player, or did I play the right moves?

dc1985

I would say "Both". The problem I had with the game was 4.d4- You just gave up a pawn for nothing... through good play you got it back.

It's true I did give up the pawn, but after putting pressure on the queen I was able to take his knight for free.

Well first off its clear to see he was a bad player, and when a game has come to the point of you winning his queen many moves are good moves ^^)

5. ...Nxf3+ and all that trouble could have been avoided.

Neat game.

unsolvedmysteries

lol, Nxf3 would have been the right move. I was just excited about this game, I guess it wouldn't have turned out so well for me against a better opponent.

LisaV, are you talking about the white peices? I'm playing white.

unsolvedmysteries

yeah, thanks. I can see how that could be a sound concept. I'll try it out in some games and try and use it to my advantage. I think too with a good knowledge of endgames, which I don't really have, you can pretty much strategize your trades for endgame play.
