White's c4/e4/d4 vs. d3/f4 - where a tempo up causes Black to equalize

Retiring from Chess play, until I get re-challenged. Oops, I meant e3 not d3.

It appears strangely that openings Black uses are more effective than White, since White moves first, and Black can break the symmetry and create his own game.

For White to over-come this, he or she must play from start-to-finish accurately by using Tempo saving moves. Don't try to mimic or copycat Black's usual moves (example: English c4 vs Sicilian c5) otherwise it can cause a wrong opening idea.
