Why is this a stalemate?

there might have been one about somebody not knowing there was a resign button.

maxdragon I will attempt your suggested post with a twist (true story):

I just played a game where my opponent had king and 2 knights against my lone and vulnerable king. After about 30 moves my king was on the ropes and I was about to be checkmated and I accidentally stumbled into stalemate. My opponent was deprived of the win and had to settle for a draw. I think the stalemate rule stinks and I would never use it to draw a hopelessly lost position. Is there anyway I can give my half-point back to my opponent to give him the win he deserves? I give my opponent an A+ for effort!

NOTE: it was 2 knights+ pawn vs rook and I blundered my rook for the pawn! Who would have thought that my opponent would stalemate the king after 30 moves?

Just saying, wrathss, two knights and a king cannot force checkmate.
