Why is this the recommended move?

During the post game review the recommended move was to sac the knight to win a pawn. I don't understand why.

It is not a pawn on f2

The line the engine wants is Nxf2 Kxf2 Nxg4+ when the bishop on f4 is hanging with check to the black queen, so White has to play Kg3 and then Black goes Ne5 back with another pawn bagged and exposed white king.
