Yeah. After all, if you do announce it, you might get it wrong; and if you don't announce it, people will hopefully think you foresaw the whole thing anyway.

I would've known this had I not sorta cheated my way out by exiting prematurely to prevent rating changes (this and I actually thought it was a fluke).
Actually, I probably would've lost on time prior to that...cause I was really, really blind here.

Yeah, it's about to be mate. Read Bobby Fischer Teaches Chess and you will be able to spot lots of things that are useful (in addition to the "useless interpositions" mentioned above). Great book. Where is this from anyway? Some chess lecture?
Am I missing something here? Bishop has the Queen pinned to the king, so...
What am I missing? When one is mated in this game, (chessmaster on xbox), the game immediately stops and shows how much your rating decreased, plus, it'll say checkmate at the bottom, as opposed to check, like displayed. I'm convinced this is a fluke, but I could just as easily be blind.
