After that g3 with the idea of getting the king into the game works as well. Equal pawn endings with two rooks vs. rook and bishop require some technique and some can even be drawn in some circumstances! '
Don't be discouraged, black probably tried his hardest in your game to keep his rook as the side with one rook should try keeping it, so another plan after protecting your pawns and back rank is exchanging a set of rooks.
